hey guys, so i went up with my old man today to my old house where the torana is, our main goal was to get her started up and we succeeded, but only by putting in the battery from the hilux haha

next week our goals will be:
  • give her a good clean, including the engine.
  • bleed the brakes
  • pump up the tyres
  • clean dads old hotwire rims
  • take the bullbar off.
heres some pics from today :)

haha, that's not my pop. It's my Dad

and it's been sitting there for about 3years since its last run.

He stopped driving it after he hit 200,000 kms on the odometer i think.

thats awesome i must be blind because i didnt realise it was a hatch

thanks :) and is it true that hatches are uncommon?

Oliver you are one very lucky bloke, i also didnt know it was a hatch :dontknow: i think i almost shed a tear when i see it drive off :surrenderwave: it is one very neat and tidy looking Torana and i think you made the right choice and useing the Hilux as a daily, and selling your bike to fund the Torana, must other would be diving in to mummy & daddy's pocket  keep up the good work

haha thanks :) had some good luck with us today, the radiator wasn't leaking + the radio still works!

I learnt alot today, mainly to do with batteries as we did a lot of swapping the batteries etc and when the hilux wouldn't start up at BP i cleaned all the dirt off the adapters and wal-ah! it started :)

thats awesome and so good to see. i guess the first thing you can do is really give it a clean, its the cheapest and by far the most satisfactory. look forward to seeing more

Aww, i'm sorry to hear about your dad :(

And yeah i hear ya :) me and dad are more than happy just to keep her as an original look (meaning no flares or big 18"wheels), he's got some wide hotwires we can put back on but we needa buy a new set of tyres first before we can, it's going to be a slow process. As i have about 11months before im even on my L's so yeah :)

UPDATE: Went up today again, we didn't really get too much done other than giving it a full soapy clean, not really worth putting up photos. mainly just because i was busy cleaning/driving it :P

Plan is for next weekend maybe bleed the brakes so we can trust it enough to take the damn bull bar off! then find anything else it needs so we can have it road worthy and keep it here to give it a proper shelter :D

Also, does anyone know the max width of tyres you can have legally in vic/nsw? without flares.

noting bout max tyre sizes in the quick look i had
but the rule of thumb is if it sticks anywhere outside the body work you will fail
hence why a lot have flares

yeah i agree with sting try your hardest not to chop it up with flairs and all that jazz ( just my 2cents ) on my old LX i ran 245/50/14 front and rear but the rears had the wheel arch lip rolled to stop scrubbing. Oh and when ya take the Bull Bar off maybe give it to mumbo so he can keep the fronts on the track :badabing:

cool thanks for that, looks like a whole new set of wheels then! haha, dads old ones are 13" hotwires, he said they stuck out further than the guards so the cops told him he had to change them. I think i'll still look for some hotwires, but maybe 15" ones.

yeah that's why i was asking about the laws of tyre width without flares, oh well, in the long run that means tyres will be alot cheaper :D
