Got it in perth off gumtree. I guy bought a crate in from china.

At 17 cfm at the nozzle it cranks. I did a spraypainting course at tafe and the said 17 cfm and 100 litre tank and above is what you need to get a decent 2 pac spray job.

My air tools dont even flinch.

Any one see this in street machine?

I think it rocks. My mate has a mad CV8Z and i give him stick for it being a 2 door commodore.

This is how they should have built the last monaro.

Picked up some HQ stub axles, discs and rotors. $260 in good condition. Will convert my front stud pattern to HQ so i can get these Simmons on for a trial fit before I spray.

These pics are a comparison of my mates torry already HQ and my old set up. Marone ones are the Torry. Ignore the cobwebs. The old girls been sitting for a while waiting for paint. Hs rims are 22 inch billets!

Primed the stub axles.
The HQ pbr pistons are identical to my torry ones the only differece was the spacer. (twice as wide)
I forgot i hung them up.
I cracked my head a beauty on the rotors.

Wow! I've just read the whole thread. What a great way to fill in a lazy saturday morning. Berro you are a true magician. Seeing the metal skills have has been truly eye opening. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Here you can see the torana stub axles and the hq stubs. The torry ones look very similar but the higher HQ stub position lowers the car by an inch. The brake pads are wider apart to allow for the wider HQ ventilated discs. The torry pbr pistons will bolt strait up to the HQ stub axles and spacers. My Missus calls all the painted hanging parts "torana wind chimes".

Busy week end on the Torry.
Changed the front torana stub axles to HQ stud. It was realy easy.
Needed to keep the torana control arms. The rest is a match. The pistons are of the torry.
Happy with the finished product. They are not brembos but this is A9X on a budget.
Finally fitted the Simmons. They look great. Next are the rears.

I hope not - I need to get mine rego'd eventually too. AFAIK the chassis' are the same as LX, you just need to change to V8 front springs... Are you sure that article wasn't written by someone from CRS?

Yeah true. They are probably trying to sell chasis kits.
I used to own an LX and the chasis looked the same.
Hope its not the case!

Well, mostly just the upper diff mounts, besides an A9X is still an LX... And isn't the A9X floorpan what makes UC's superior? :stirpot:

Great thread. Berro - always enjoyed your story and great to see you are back underway.
As to commentary re: difference in LX chassis versus UC chassis - genuine question; what exactly is the difference?
Cheers, TB

Funny stuff, journalists and columnists are obviously not paid well enough to actually research their topics before publishing these days...

Cheers A9X.
As far as I know or AFAIK:

The UC wheel well is in a different position.
the rear diff mounts are on different angles to the LX. You cant mount a UC diff on a lx.
The A9X had a bigger tunnel.

According to my torana bible the UC hatch was and 1185 (6cl).The SS hatch 3300 (6cl) was 1213kg.

Only 28kg difference!

It must be that SS badge!

I dont know about the comment that the UC was lighter???

great thread berro

just notice your front brake conversion, you may have trouble bleeding
those brakes with the bleed nipples on the bottom.try swpping them left to right.
keep up the good work.
