Thanks for the feedback.
Yes I would do it again but I would know what to look for in a decent donor.
I will be rebuilding a HT monaro next. This thing is also a basket case.
Its the liitle wins I like. Check this out.
Over 2 years i bought half the dove grey leather interior out of the black twin turbo Torry hatch street machine. Beautiful quality.
The white front seats are vinyl. bought seperatly for $200.
I was going to dye or reupholster them.
Now........ I was telling a mate that the black hatch that my interior was out of was for sale on gumtree. So I rang up to see if he still had the front seats? NO JOY.
That mate then told someone who i didnt know about me ringing up to ask.
3 weeks later that person was on gumtree and spots a black HQ ute with a white interior but dove leather seats!
So I ring the guy up and say I have white seats that match his interior and he has grey seats that match mine. 100km drive later and we do a clean swap!!
They are part the original interior that i bought out of the black hatch!!
I was so cool! Interior back together after 2+ years!
Thats what a call a cool win!

Cut the inner guards. Drew a line where the flares sit and measured 1 inch below that for the cut.
Then cut a wedge out or the flare and taped it up for fibre glass.
Will glass it up and weld up the cuts tommorow.

I also bought new chrome wheel nuts. I nearly fell over when I was quoted $6 for plastic chrome wheel nut covers!
$6 each nut!

Are you still thinking of going to a 9" diff?

As its only running a mild motor the commodore axles will suffice.
I would like to run a real blower one day instead of a pretend blower (gilmer belt). I will need a 9 inch then.
Fitted the new axles today. Glad to see the rears fit bit only just.
The gap on the right of the rear wheel is 20mm but the Left is 10mm. Tight.
Does any one think the gap on the rear wheel will rub???

Fitted brackets on the inside of cowl scoop and used big pop rivets to secure it down. I counter sank them in to fibreglass so i can hide them after.
I then ran a bead of sika flex around the whole thing and clamped it down.

It took a lot of work to get them to fit.

Wish I'd thought of a few things a while back like you are doing - never thought to check clearance of wheels to the flairs, especially the fronts.
Look forward to seeing what is next.

I am still worried about the rears rubbing. I ended cutting extra 5-6 mm out ou the top rear flare edge too.
Also fitted at new hatchback boot rubber so i could get the hatch lined up.
Iam not happy with how the boot spoiler quarters site so added more fibre glass to them.

I wasnt happy with the bracket set up in the scoop. When the bonnet skin flexed the join would crack.
I ended up fibre glassing the whole thing down to the bonnet.
Had a mate come around with his sandman ute. So after a few beers we fitted my simmons to his car to see how fat they are.
Also did a heap of work on the rear hatch. Fitted the new rare spare rubbers at then fitted the rear boot lock. After locking it down we could see the gaps needed a little encouraging with a hammer and block of wood. It was amazing to see how beautifuly this primative tool worked to getting things right.

What made you decide on the scoop you have now and a traditional A9X type that finishes before the edge of the bonnet?
And I see you have the side mirror off the door. I want to add one to my car as it doesn't have one. Do you need to remove the glass and rubber to fit one do you think or is it a job you can do without taking the door apart?
Cheers.

From memory the mirror has a backing plate that will need to be held in place while you screw it in from the outsite. You may be able to get your fingers in to hold it in place with the window up.
Scoop......?
I saw a car on dirtbags thread with the cowl scoop and it looked sick!

Thats the good thing about being a mongrel UC/LX i can butcher it all i like and no one really cares.
I have a massive respect for people who bring Torrys back to concours condition. I intend to do that to my HT Monaro.
I dont have the patience or time.
A matching numbers car is a different story.
It looks fat and i love it!!!!

How you get the fibreglass to adhere to the bonnet let alone do so seamlessly as you have done is beyond me - bloody well done!
Keep it coming.
