Only small updates.
Bought some ceramic baked chrome bonnet hinges $200 bucks!
Get this.....went to get some parts for a fire fighting pump and the guy behind the counter had just bought a Torana hatch. The hatch just happened to be the same hatch that my other interior parts came from!
He gave me the door trims that match the rest of my interior.
So after three years and three separate people\cars the original street machine interior is back together! (you have to read this thread to understand) the world is a small place!
My mate is a superstar car painter. I have had to redo the roof and the bonnet at they were good
but not great he is very fussy. The bonnet needed furry bog (fibre glass reinforced) along the front as it was showing tiny cracks! Had to unpick parts of the front LX graft as is was 4mm out and the bonnet panel gaps were too close.
it now looks spot on!
So as an update a lot of my body work is being redone to a higher standard,,,,,,,so much for a quick rebuild.
more picks soon.

The Torries have assembly alignment holes. One was just out and I thought I could get away with it. I was wrong.
I now know do it once, do it right.
It was amazing that once that was fixed all the other panels around the car fitted so much better.
It was like the whole car snapped into line. I was so cool.
Also if you look at the picture above of the roof you will see a terminator and route 66 picture in the back ground. My mate teaches airbrushing. Next year I am hopefully doing a 16 week course on this (1 night per week). Water, wood, flames, metal, effects...should be cool.
He has done some mad work.

posted this on my thread aswell. Had another look at the exposed areas on my car, no rust and the lanolin cleans off easily.

I am looking forward to this weekend as I will be doing some more work on the Torry.
I know this is a Torry website but quick update on the Monaro. I need Dirtbag Super Rust Repair powers on this one!
Started stripping it out.
Check this out!

hey berroI got these flares made from a guy in Perth that claimed to have the molds made from a genuine a9x hatch years ago. Fiber glass not plastic.
He then adapted the molds to have 1-2 mm extra fat so that they can be sanded back to fit panels perfectly. They fit perfectly! I will need to hack out the wheel arches though. That's the great thing about have a UC-LX clone no guilt when cutting her up.
those moulds came of my car
glad they fit!
cheers
davemc
your hatch is looking great by the way

I marked mine out before removing them.
I also mesured the distance from the fire wall and vertical intersection and noted where theline meet for the hole position.

One thing I dunno if it's been brought up yet couldn't see it but those front seats will create a headache for the engineer and or the pits. Well mine did anyways I have scheels with the head rest removed and the ones you have a Gemini ones. So they are roughly the same size but because the toranas came with "headrests" (I tried argue this) the back rest from where you bum hits the seat to the top of the back rest has to be I think 600mm.
Food for thought
