Cheers Mike,

Nice to talk to you the other day. Thanks for the tips on the efi. I have to figure something out on that front.

I got the handbrake connected today. Finally no more bricks to keep the car still.

Finally got the motor running!

Had to strip the starter motor and strip oil pump the she went first go.

I'm a bit worried about going over the pits in WA with the Carby set up. I have already received an written approval in principal from the DOT for Carby on the VN motor but i believe i will need to pass the emissions test. May need some serious tuning. Any one had a Carby VN 304 registered in WA? Help before i whack it in the car!

You will need a stock cam, a cat or two and a good tuner!

Nope, but I'm pretty sure it will need to pass the emissions of the year the engine was made, post 1986 needs cat converters to pass no shadow of a doubt. That was why they brought in unleaded petrol, so they could run cats, lead poisons them. A big cam will increase hydrocarbon & co emissions out of sight... Too much for a cat to take care of. I'm pretty sure WA is under vsb14 like qld yes?

Sounds about right redzone
When i reviewed my paper work last night it tells you it must meet the vsb14 requirements for the year of engine. All OEM equipment must be fitted

We're lucky so far in qld, we have no emissions testing stations for doing the im240 test for vsb14 so they don't worry about that side of it...

Hopefully I can do the same.
I am running a 600 Holley so perhaps I can put smaller jets in it whilst I get it over the test?

Cheers Mate,

I will call him tomorrow.

Fitted my scuff plates today. I am pretty happy with them considering they are a set from a four door cut and welded together.

Yip Yah one more job done!

I spoke with Rob he said that the motor will pass emissions test with Carby. They did a ford 5L that was EFI converted to Carby recently and that passed. He recommended VZ cats over earlier VN cats. Anyone got a pair?

The moment of truth.

Trying to fit the VN Commodore T5 Manual Gearbox............

After a long while wading through threads and social media comments... Hearing that it cant be done and you need the Ford T5 Box.

I can officially say the Commodore T5 gearbox fits perfectly the UC Torana with out modifying the tunnel or interfering with the mid tunnel strengthening rail. 20- 25mm of gap between the tunnel strengthening rail.

I will try and get more pics soon.

Engine should go in next week. Yay!
