HI MySS427.

Firstly can I say your car is a beast and has been on my screen saver at work for ages!
Wont the acrylic get in gaps like behind the plenum and behind some of the hanging panels and sit there?
Unlike your beast I have not intention of going to the detail of smoothing those areas.

I know its only a small amount but I would hate for it to create problems down the road.

Does anyone know if the cowl style bonnet scoops are street legal in WA?
I am toying with the idea of doing some thing different than the standard scoop.
I was also considering a hornet scoop but once again don't know if they are street legal?
I may spray two bonnets up so I can change them around every now and then.

C'mon members show us your bonnet scoops!

cowl scoop is to my knowledge....hornet is marginial
so long as you have no "unsealed" openings in the bonnet
mind you it's all up to the inspector's mood at the time in most cases
you can buy the guide coat "dust" nowdays....so if you miss some it "washes" away tmk

Thanks Quagmire,
I might go to the Inspection with the standard bonnet and have a back up for after. Want to paint them at the same time.

Cheers Mustard GTR
The link was spot on! Cowl scoop it is! Any one know where to by a quality fibre glass cowl scoop? I want one that runs the full length of the bonnet.

Better than sliced bread when it comes to guide coats.

Expensive, but you will do heaps of cars with it.

Cheers.

Sorry Tried to post an image from the Motor vehicle Registry from Mustard GTR regarding bonnet scoops and it pasted this crap.

Has a great image on how to calculate scoop heights.

I was looking at ezyglass in Melbourne to by a cowl scoop that runs the full length of the bonnet. I don't want the rubber moulding around where it meets the bonnet. I understand there are two types ones that have a hinge in the inside for mounting or those that are glued to the bonnet. Any one done this or got a recommendation on which one is best to use? Is there is a decent Cowl supplier in Perth?

Have you considered Alpha fibreglass replacement bonnet? Any size cowl, full length as well. Much lighter. Bout $400 I believe.

Thanks Torry Freak.
Sent them an e-mail today.
Are you referring to a full fibreglass bonnet not just the cowl? Do you know if that is street legal in WA?
Cheers

Yes. Full fibreglass bonnet, with cowl moulded to the body. It is a straight up swap over and is legal because it has the folds in the centre which collapses bonnet in a crash, for Engineering purposes.

There is a thread somewhere here on it. Will find and post it here for you.

It would seem the general consensus is no to street legal, unless your Engineer can certify it. Sorry for the bum steer.

That's ok.
Rang them up they Said $970 for a full fibre glass bonnet with cowl. I am going to use a steel bonnet and blend the cowl on.
I think it will look mean.

Dirt Bag tell your mate I am doing it because i saw it on your fixing my brothers hatch thread!
That car looks sick! Do you have any details, pics or tips on how he blended the scoop to the bonnet?
Does he have any cracks on the joins?
What height did he go to? the heigh looks just right mines still too tall.

Go the UC converters!

Quick update.
Picked up some Simmons B45s 16*9s. They are HQ stud so i am going to change. I want hoppers so need to ditch the 14's.
Does any one know if you can buy a hoppers kit that fits torana stub axles and changes to HQ stud?

Car should be ready for paint soon.

hiya. As for my friends scoop, it's just bolted on from the inside with tabs glassed into the scoop. It actually looks really good not moulded in. Just like a torana scoop only bigger : )

The standard Hoppers kits go on the Torana stubs, and you can get pretty much any stud pattern you like.

The B45s should look good, nice size
