Ive currently got the sender out of the tank giving it a once over. Ive noticed there is a hole in the pick up sock... Can these be purchased anywhere? Even a universal type? Ive also noticed the exterior sender terminal to sender resistance assy is intermittent high ohms due to corrosion.... Ive removed the actual terminal lug and cleaned everything up, Id like to put some fuel proof sealant on there just to be 100% sure it seals again, anyone know of any decent fuel proof sealants on the market???

Surely the pick up filter sock is a replaceable part?

Yes it can be removed and replaced but it was never serviced as a spare part.

Get your soldering iron (not a thumping big one though, 20 or 25 watts will do) and gently melt the plastic mesh back together, I've repaired heaps of them this way. It is a bit tricky and be careful as it's easy to melt a hole right through and that's hard to repair without a donor filter for a repair patch.

Too much heat can tend to burn the surface leaving a black char. Not really a major problem though.

Ill give that a go tonight. I guess its not really life or death as it will have a fuel filter fitted also. Any ideas on where to pick up a replacement sock??

I've also sewn them up with a small piece of wire, they always split at the seam like your pic

Ive repaired the sock with a soldering iron, given everything a good clean up. All works a treat,
