Just hope they take a step forward in coverage and do it better than ever before because if not it could cost V8SA a Sh8tload.....

As for Crompton, again, I'm no expert but I think his experience has added depth their coverage. I never really thought much of him as a driver, but the stuff he talks about it mostly new to me.
Just my 2c worth,
Peace,

Channel 7 did nothing to help motorsport when they had it last towards the end. Channel ten was the only station prepared to put their balls on the line and give V8 Supercars a go and are partly responsable for the popularity it enjoys today. Lets just hope channel 7 don't stuff it up and send motorsport to the background again.
Only time will tell. We just have to sit an wait to see how it all pans out. I just can't see how the AFL and V8 Supercars fans are both going to be kept happy. We all know which viewing adience is bigger.

Stuffed if i am going to watch just F1s the v8s there were great what will be on the other draw card no Go Karts
From Hearld Sun
THE V8s won't roar around Albert Park at next year's Australian Grand Prix.
The Formula One race lost one of its biggest drawcards yesterday after the V8 Supercar Australia board voted to pull out of the 2007 event.
It is a setback for GP organisers, who regained the right to host the opening round of the F1 season on March 15-18.
Australian Grand Prix Corporation chief Tim Bamford said yesterday's announcement had caught him off guard.
"We were a bit surprised to be honest and I don't know the reasoning behind it. They've given up racing here to go to Barbagallo (Raceway) after all," Bamford said.
"I can assure the fans we will provide them with the very best motor racing in the world and it will be every bit as exciting as it always have been. Let's not forget Formula One is the pinnacle of world motor racing and, from a Formula One point of view, we have practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and racing on Sunday."
Bamford refused to say what would take the place of the popular V8s next year.
V8 Supercar Australia chief Wayne Cattach insisted the decision to leave the GP was prompted by a date clash, and not by the V8s defection from F1 broadcaster Channel 10 to Channel 7 next year.
He said the V8 board intended to host the Perth round at Barbagallo Raceway in March to avoid a clash with AFL football on Channel 7, making it logistically impossible to race at Albert Park.
"Our planning for 2007 has been under way for several months since we announced that Seven will assume the broadcast rights from next year," Cattach said.
"These discussions include moving the Perth round outside the AFL season, due to the two-hour time difference of the western seaboard.
"We are disappointed we won't be attending."
Cattach said he was surprised when the date of next year's GP, and its clash with the world swimming titles, which are also in Melbourne, were announced.
V8 Supercars Australia was unhappy with the category's second-class status at the event but a new draft contract from the AGP had addressed most of its complaints.
V8 Supercar drivers contacted yesterday had mixed feelings about the decision.
"It's got to the point we no longer need to be a support event," V8 Supercar championship leader Garth Tander said. "I don't think our series will suffer for not being on the (F1) calendar."
But Ford star Craig Lowndes described the announcement as a shock.
"It is the biggest crowd we raced (in front of) and the Formula One mechanics, I think, took an interest in our racing, so, in that sense, it's disappointing," Lowndes said.

than the existing arrangements with Network Ten. This amounts to around
100 hours of LIVE race coverage compared to the current 79. This is all
LIVE. In additional there will be more specialised programs dedicated to
V8 Supercars, stronger cross-promotion and increased presence on the
network. It also allows for LIVE Saturday coverage in additional to the
traditional LIVE Sunday race coverage. There is between two and four
clashes with Seven's AFL telecast but this will not affect Sunday race
coverage. There will only be minimal changes to next year's calendar.
In regards to the support categories for the F1, I would suggest that
you contact the Melbourne Grand Prix office for further details.
Kind regards

CH 7 Melb has one AFL game on Sunday afternoon

Does that mean that the V8s will be shown late afternoon or 11:30 at night like the old days.
CH 7 Melb have no footy on Saturday so maybe they move the racing to Saturdays so we can see a days racing

"As near as possible to race time" and "the clipsal telecast on time with the race" or something like that. A little too open ended I reckon.
The footy will take preference I reckon.

Saturday Live Qualifying and Race one.
On Sunday Live race two then off to the Footy followed immediately by a delayed Race three.
So if that is the case it is a lot more live content than Ten ever did, because non of tens sunday stuff was live it was nearly alway's on delay. Either that or Bigpond V8 live site are Psychic's..
