English wheel design

Hi, brought an English wheel that i am picking up Tuesday with an 8 hour round trip,
Every English wheel ive seen has top mandrel meeting bottom mandrel of various curves but one ive brought hs top cntre mandrel meeting
two mandrels side by side, is this a problem? would it be easy to change?

If it was cheap,Id pay for it ,cut my losses and leave it there.

Since there appears to be a bolt-on mounting plate for the lower rollers, I'd say it's easy to change provided you can find a suitable lower roller. Welding the mounting shaft to a plate shouldn't be much of a challenge if you feel up to the challenge of an english wheel.

Is it just me or does the top wheel look like it's got a curved surface? The top wheel should be flat, and compress the metal against the lower roller which can be flat or curved depending on the shape you need to make. If the top roller is curved then just remake the lower part so one of those flat rollers is directly underneath it. The only problem is you wont be able to change the curve that goes into the panel other than adjusting the pressure on the rollers. Also it means the sheet will be curving upwards, so gravity might be against you a bit depending on the size of sheet you're working on. Might have to flip the whole thing and put legs on the top?

There's some stuff on Ebay. Since I've never used one, I won't speculate on what mandrels you need. But I'd be surprised if you couldn't find something suitable. There's a few English Wheels for sale by Ebay stores, most likely someone sells mandrels, even if you have to order from overseas. All depends what you want to do with it.

In it's current configuration it looks like it would put a mean curve in it quite quickly.

You can get replacement dies pretty easily on Ebay, so If you get two new dies, big flat roller for top and round die for the bottom, just weld up a piece for bottom die, pretty straight forward, but I would expect another $200 for the dies...
