I agree the inlet directly under the filler is a problem, but the bottle is too shallow as well, putting something inside to baffle it, is a good idea & i'm gonna do that to mine!I believe that is standard operation, not sure if the holes were drilled out after the install at the dealers as both the recovery systems that came standard on 2 of my UC's look drilled out.While it is a good setup, I found that the recovery system didn't work that well. It would spew out from the top of the cap that had a hole in it and onto the underside of the bonnet.
Ive got around the sudden release of the coolant/overflow prob by simply putting a baffle in the reservior. You need something that can be squeezed through the opening and will float in the water rather than sink and block the entry/exit hole.
Ive had a simple piece of foam rubber in there for 15 years, it hasnt degraded even with normal castrol antifreeze mix in there.
