I've got my engine back in and I'm a little concerned about the lack of room for a breather pipe on the passenger side rocker cover...

Posted Image

There's only around 21 mm gap between the rocker cover and the fan box and the elbow is just touching...

I'm not sure if this is right as when I bought the car it had alloy covers and I've since replaced them with stock standard ones...

Any thoughts on how to deal with this problem? Maybe make a lower profile elbow out of copper???

Cheers

G'day,

But the PCV goes in the front of the other rocker cover.

So if I swapped them, the breather hole would be in the exactly same place and the oil filler cap will be on the wrong side..... But thanks for the input....

HQ - HZ and Torana 253/308 rocker covers had the PCV hole at opposite ends of the covers. Looks like you have the wrong ones.

G'day,

I hope this doesn't come across as rude, but I disagree....

Here are a couple L-34 engine bays with the PCV's on the same side as my LH L-31.... And the filler cap is the same as mine as well....

Well I'm sure they are different, so I'm buggered if I know why you have that clearance problem then.

G/Day Napes

You need rocker cover breather outlet, GMH part no. 9932185. It is a low profile design elbow that should clear your heater.

Cheers
Dave.

it looks like all 3 of those pics have different front breathers, the one i have is like that ebay one except
it is cast alloy, the one on my 5/74 308 sandman engine is cast alloy also.
so which is correct for an L34

The breathersyou can see on the front of those engines are PCV valves, not the plastic breather elbow that Napes has just bought off ebay.
