HI all..

I sorted my dash out and fitted the loom plug and all went sweet..

One thing I did miss with it all was the GEN light... That will learn me for changing the AMP to VOLT...

The trusty parts bin came in handy agian as I had to fit a globe holder to the facia so I could wire in the GEN light... some smart folk here told me that I did need it to excite something and so the charge side would work... clever folk here I tell ya....

Posted Image

So I ended up useing some HJ dash parts, cut down a red lense to fit the top light space on the facia and glued in a holder...

Posted Image

The loom plug was great and it came together nice...

Cheers

Hi all.. just a quick update...

Ever since I had the wheel, it never cancelled and the horn button was hit and miss.. good quality boss kit I guess...

I did a mod and fit the the original unit to the wheel and got it all sorted...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Works like a new one now!!

Posted Image

Still waiting on the new seat trims... cant finish the carpet off and fit the little bits till I get the seats done...

Seat belts front and rear are all on and look great...

All coming along nice... slow but nice...

Cheers

Glad they are here... man, it was a big wait..... I'll have a crack next week and see how we go...

What did you end up doing with your wheel? Did you sort it or just change it? I see the repo GTR steering wheels are out and dont they look good!

Cheers

Hi all..

Well, I started on the seats and boy, the drivers seat was a sad state of affairs with 4 broken springs... I could not find anyone who made or had some so I ended up buying another seat...

Posted Image

Posted Image

I took the seat spring assy off the seat I bought and did a swap onto my seat base...

The broken springs just ate the hession away and the foam was very average.. I got some good foam from Clark Rubber and replaced the base foam.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Was an interesting job and Im happy with the end result... Not a professional job but heaps better than what I had... I will have a crack at the passenger seat and hope its not as bad... looking at it, there are no broken springs at least...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

The seat back was in good shape so wasn't a drama... I'll be happy if I don't see another hoop again... little pain in the butt they are... I got it all in place with cable ties and then fitted the hoops and cut the cable tie off...

Hi Eric

Nice work, that looks pretty good to me.

Did your seat backs for the buckets come as one piece? Or did you have to create or fit the rear cover?

Just interested as I have some black covers for my car and I have only done the back seat so far , yet to tackle the fronts

Regards Simon

Thanks all...

Simon, the fronts are in 2 bits (on the seat back)... the main cover and the rear panel that clips on...

I had to recover the panel and the guys who did them for me added extra material for that... I used the original piping and board as they were in good condition... not hard to make another board if you had to...

Gotta do it all again on the other bucket and then I can finish off the carpet and bits...

Cheers..

Thanks Eric, sounds same as what I received, I did get matrial to make the backs and new piping,

I did same as you with the backs, cable tied on until I had the new cover in the place I wanted it, then replaced the wire clips. Use one of those tools for joining chicken wire to close the wire clips up,

Awesome work there,

Sounds good mate... never thought of using anything different than good old pliers.... I bet they made life a ittle easier for you?

You should show us a pic of your handy work mate.... You did better than me getting new piping.... Not supplied with mine but the original was still in good condition...

Will keep you posted..

Cheers..

Hi Eric,

Yes, after sticking a few through my thumb, I went out to the shed and grabbed the old chicken wire tool,

Not the best pictures, just the rear base, did this one first.

Keep up the great work

Simon

Nice work Simon!!! That looks great!!! I am so glad I went with the GTR stiching... looks great!!

Can I ask what your rear seat is out of? I ask that because I got supplied a cover to fit your type of seat. The manual say's that the SL and GTR are the same seat... Mine is an SL and has the dip in the middle..

Posted Image

I sent my original back with the one he sent so they could make another one for me....

Posted Image

The above pic shows (crap pic sorry) my seat, my cover with the piping to fit the raised bits and the cover they sent me...

This is close to finish on the rear base...

Posted Image

I just gotta add more hoops and remove the cable ties...

I know what you mean about cutting the hands to bits... I take my hate off to those who did this every day!!

Keep up the great work also Simon..

Cheers

sl and gtr are top seat frames are slightly diff... you would need to chop the sl seat and weld a section in.. easy as

Thanks for that boomfunk... the guys who supplied the covers were suprised that it did not fit as well...

Saying that, I'm a bit of a fussy bugger at times and I do like the shape of my seat and would like to keep it the same as much as I can...

So just to confirm, there are 3 types of rear back seats? The one simon has above, straight back with no dip, mine, with the dip or raised bits... and a slight varient to mine... is that correct?

looking at the pics.. im sure your seat frame is gtr style.. now that makes sense, they sent you sl style when it would be gtr

the sl doesnt have the dip...

the pic simon posted is the rear base.. not the rear top.. thats how it looks to me anyway...

2 types of rear seat top.. one with the dip and 1 without.. yours has the dip

When i do GTR..GTR XU1 they all have the dip for LC

Some people bring me the sl style and we have to cut and weld it so it has a dip.. hence why i said now i get it, they sent you SL without dip but infact yours has the dip so its either been modified or the have fitted a 2 door gtr top rear previously

Hmm...ok, the manual does say the SL and GTR are the same... I know the history of the car since new as its been in the family and wouldn't imagine any changes have been done on seats yet alone on anything else..... but, stranger things have happened...

Yes, you are right... it does look like Simon's is the base... my boo boo there....

I did state it was an SL to the trimmer so I guess thats why I got what I got...

Thanks...

Just on the dip... the dip is acually there due to the raised bits on either side..

I thought for a min I would fill the dip in with foam but the length of the cover was short then...

i have only ever had 2 types, the sl straight across and the gtr with the dip, so yes its strange that one, does your frame where the dip is look modified or anything?..

maybe they used that frame in yours after a certain date or something i dont know but gtr covers fitted straight because of the dip..
