I highly recommend these guys for any spring needs..........They are usually the last port of call, for un-satisfied Kings and Pedders customers after they cant supply springs to the exact height as required by the customer. I have no doubt that they would be able to supply coil springs to suit your needs..................If you do choose to ring them, ask for Randall, tell him Stretch suggested you ring him.....and he'll look after you!!

Hi all..

Well still tinkering so pic time I guess...

After all the discussion with many people, including my wife... (who owns the car) she wanted the spoiler on... so, its on.... After its last visit to the painters for her touch-ups, I gave him the green light to fit the rear spoiler.. I must admit, its not too bad.. its growing on me... The Painter did a shit job fitting it so when I got home, I ripped it off and had another go at it... much better....

spoiler3_zps4904b512.jpg

spoiler4_zps1cc33b1d.jpg

The motor is coming along nice... I got the short motor done and now the head is getting some work and a freshen up... Dave and Les from Galloway Engines is doing the job... happy so far with their work but the truth will be when I turn the key... That's a long way away yet though....

engine_zps6346478d.jpg

engine2_zps8fbaeb58.jpg

engine3_zps6e13a71c.jpg

The usual stuff went on there.. re-sized everything, all dialed in, out 60 thou, new ARP rod bolts and a Crow 35667 grind cam...

The head is getting bigger valves and some port work to help with the webbers... That should be ready next week so keen to have a look at that...

Cheers..

:3gears:

Started doing some more jobs on the list... I wanted to change the diff gears as they were the original auto 2.78 which were great on the highway but made it sluggish around town...

So.. I had a set of 3.36 which I thought would made a great improvement and be much better for new engine also.. I can now cross that off the list....

Before...

Diff%20before_zpsexnwtivq.jpg

Diff%20ratio%20change_zpsldkpwc5y.jpg

And after...

Diff%20after_zpsn27qg1mc.jpg

A good clean, coat of paint, new bushes and it was back in with a fresh 3.36 center... I also fitted a set of lowered springs which look great!!

Boy!! what a big difference that made....

Cheers

Thanks all... lol... no... no black marks... that would be very irresponsible....   :3gears: Heeheehee....

Well... not got much of a time frame atm Steve as i have lots of other stuff going on... (mini's) but the plan is to have everything I need to throw it in first so it wont be off the road for too long... so.. its just a case of saving the $$$ and buying the gear... I need to buy a clutch kit, extractors and work out what Im going to do about the accelerator as in cable or rod... so.. not to far away I hope...

Thanks to Warren as I used his idea about the spacers on the rear springs... I had trouble getting the right height so I ended up getting lowered pedders springs, which were 40mm lower than the standard, and put a 15mm spacer in which ended up a 25mm drop from what I had... spot on...

spring%20spacer_zpsneiomhww.jpg

Spring%20fitted_zpszfgzi2gd.jpg

Its a slow process but I will keep you posted...

hi all..

well... its been a while but hey... cant rush these things... after a house move and setting stuff up, I finally took the torrie off the road to give it the fresh engine...

I got the gearbox looked at while it was out and wasnt happy with the 3.36 diff gears so got a set of 3.08 fitted so things have been getting done...

engine%20out_zpszceiad6s.jpg

I wasnt happy with the redline intake but I guess you get what you pay for.... yeah yeah... i know Im a tight a##... I laid the gasket over the intake and it was bad!!!

inlet_zpskdbqu9rt.jpg

So got out the grinder and ended up with this...

intake2_zpsckly21tk.jpg

not perfect but it will do.... the headers weren't much better so I cleaned them up also..

I got the new engine, gearbox and diff in and im just messing around with all the small stuff....

engine%20in_zpsv26tvb0d.jpg

I had to modify the accelerator and clutch pedal and am just working on a fuel block and some steel fuel lines...

Cheers.

Hi all...

Just a bit of progress... just playing with some fuel lines now and waiting for a pressure gauge to come... and yes... I fitted a fuel regulator....

torrieengine1_zpspdiqswt1.jpg

Finished off some wiring and realised I needed another vacuum port so had to drill that which wasnt ideal but hey... needed to be done...

torrieengine_zpsndbp16hx.jpg

Its all looking good but still a few things to sort...

Can anyone tell me if I need a vacuum line or the line connected to my distributor if its locked? I will need another fitting on the manifold if I do... Cheers

Hi all...

Well today was start-up day and all went well eventually....

torrie1_zpsh7kplaqk.jpg

I had some oil pressure issues but after pulling the oil pump off and re-priming, it all went well.... getting close now... cooling system and exhaust and should be close...

After so much looking and stuffing around.... i'd be buggered if I could get some one to make me up some steel fuel lines.... That will be a work in progress but ended up using rubber fuel hose for now...

Here's a curve ball so hoping you guru's may help... I ended up fitting a relay to run 12v to the coil... not saying thats the reason but since start-up, when I turn the ignition off, it just keeps running!! Unless the ignition switch decided to pack it in... I cant think of any reason why this just started... any help would be great!!

Cheers

Did you have the dash connected?  I might be talking shit but I think the charge light has something to do with bleeding ignition power once the switch is turned off.

And congrats on the engine start!

thanks steve...

no.. I didnt have the dash out at all... just the drive train and the only thing I changed was add a relay to feed the coil full 12 volts. I used both the resistor start and run wires together as the switch circuit to feed the relay and a direct feed from the battery as the feed to coil. I have found a few threads which Im reading so hope to sort it... if all else fails, ill just hook it up as it was... im sure 7volts will run the electronic dizzy....

Im havin clutch probs now so will have a look at that.... changing from red to blue clutch, when I hooked it all up i just had no clutch so played around with the clutch pedal and how much pull it has.... after all that... nothing... I cant select anything so will have a look tomorrow....

Cheers

Hi all..

Well... got the exhaust done today and very happy with the job!!

exhaust_zpsebbx2noo.jpg

2 1/4 inch system from extractors, a small hot dog into rear muffler.... finished off like the standard system drop pipe and all tucked up nice and tight...  very happy with the end product!!

Played around with some of the teething issues and boy....  goes very well!!! tuned the carbies and just gotta order some choke cables to finish off...

 engine1_zps9zupbwe7.jpg

engine_zpsuklpyvgd.jpg

the front carbie just clears the battery and found a heater hose with a bend in it to clear the rear air cleaner coming out of the heater... so far so good

Cheers

Awesome work Eric.
What ended upbeing the cause for the running on issue? Relay wired up wrong?

Keep at it.

Hey Daz... thank mate...no.. wish it was an easy fix like that....

from the reading I did on here its to do with the alternator/charge light circuit keeping the relay on... not really sure but I just run the 2 wires as per standard points set up for now.... i know its not getting full 12 volts but I will try to take a accessories tap to run the relay and see if that works.... failing that, ill bridge the 2 wires at the ignition switch... there are a few threads on here about it and guys having the same issue.... something I didnt think was going to be rocket science.... lol...

cheers..

+1. I had the same problem. Fitted a diode and it was an instant fix.

Thanks Trev & Adam...

Can I ask where you guys did this? Is it behind the dash or at the alternator? can I have a bit more detail as in where and how to do this? Can I get a diode at jaycar or place like that and are there values for the diode or just a diode?

Cheers
