Hi
Can anyone tell me who I could go and see in Perth that has experience with suspensions in toranas? I don't want to talk to someone who just sells the stuff and can only qoute part numbers out of a book without any actual knowledge.... Anyone?

Cheers

Setting up for circuit , targa or street ?... oh... or fag racing ?

2Wild4U (Nathan) knows alittle about Toranas... and works for Wilkinsons
WA Susp sorted out some issues with Phils Chev powered LH sedan
Wheels world supplied alot of the parts for Welby's targa hatch
I think Dave set his own up in his hatch that just completed Targa
ozyozyozy did his own too I think

Lol.... Spirited street Datto.. Sounds like Dave is possibly the most knowledgeable, setting up for Targa n all. I might have to go see Nathan as he's the one working in the business. Unless Dave reads this n puts his hand up to take a look :)
It's a strange problem I have with the handling. It might even have something to do with the power steering , I'm not sure. I just need someone to take a look. I had it at WA sus a fair while back which helped a bit but it's still .... Odd?

Both Dave and ozy have p/steer
ozy did his own with Corty rack I believe and Dave uses the one with the big writeup here from the east

I think years of forum reading got Dave to where he's at now
Thing is he works away and his lady wife is about to drop baby #1 at any minute
So he might not surface for awhile
Best PM him and see if that helps (355LX)

Dan355 is also working thru his susp setup right now too... a few suggestions in there
But if youve already got everything
Maybe best give us a run down on what you do have and what your issues are

Ok , it's a little hard to describe as it's something I've never encountered before but here goes.
Under wot it kind of darts to the right and when I remove the right foot it dives back left.
The front tracks and doesn't drive to straight. Going around a corner at speed will result in ducking and diving action.
The power steering rack type is unknown.
Ok so far to fix the problem I have replaced every bush in the front end, whiteline swaybar and koni reds. The rear still has the old pumpups and stock gear.
Thx Datto for ur help as I've been trying to get to the bottom of it for some time.

Worn rear suspension bushes hopefully. But it could be a lot more serious.

If a rear control arm is cracked and the crack is growing...

You're in Perth, so it won't directly affect me if you don't fix it.

Your family on the other hand...

IN the short term with the car sitting on flat level surface trying pushing the car from side to side to see if you have any movement in the diff then get under the car make sure it is very stable if on stands, and I mean very stable then get a pry bar and try to get things moving if you can stick the bar between various bits like trailing arms and look for worn bushes or any play movement where there shouldn't be. If you have a bit of horsepower you may even have damaged mounting brackets on the car or the diff, I once saw a lower trailing arm mount pulling away from the floor of the car, floor pan had cracked and flexing.

good luck

This may sound silly , but a few months ago my rear end felt horrible. There was something wrong so i pulled the whole diff out and checked all the bushes and mounts and went over it with a fine tooth comb.

The problem ended up being i had not checked my tyres in a long time and they were about 20psi. They did not look that flat to the eye but made all the difference.

I Still feel like an idiot :(

I hope you find your problem.

Ev

The last time I had a problem with my rear end was when it didn't fit inside my jeans. Lost a few kilos, problem solved.

Faaark you crack me up.

Quick note on some Datto comments.

Dave 's lovely wife dropped a $500,000 / 25 year deabt on him over the weekend.
Bob from Wheels world unfortunately passed away suddenly over the weekend also.

My 5c worth, its a cortina rack with badly setup geometry.

good luck with it

I hope it's not badly set up geometry a9x. That would be $$ to sort out for sure. I really am at a loss as to where to take it or what to do. Perhaps wait til thinks get back to norm for Dave after the birth and ask him.

For u people who don't read my build thread I'll update this :) I went to wilkinsons like I was saying and within 20 minutes guess what was wrong?? I was fuming when the ball joints were stuffed and the trailing arm bushes particularly the right lower were buggered. I'm glad I took the car back on more than one occasion because it wasn't right. I can't praise Peter and tge boys at wilkinsons enough. They were very helpful and professional and didn't charge like a wounded bull. Thanks guys the car drives fantastic now with the help of the UC control/steering arms and your work :D
