The last lot of photos were taken at Opunake beach, the cars drive out to different destinations each day.

Cool pics, there is a whole heap up on the NZV8 website too. What did you think of your trip to godsown? Go tripping round the place?

Go tripping round the place?

I sure did. I took your advice and spent our time in Auckland on the north shore, we stayed at the Spencer on Byron at Takapune and had a great view of both Lake Pupuke and the beach.

We drove down to Rotorua spent a night there at the Novotel, had a great view of the lake - I find if you ask early to give you the best view possible they do accommodate.

We then drove to Otorohanga to visit the kiwi house, then off to the Waitomo Caves then drove to New Plymouth that night, spent 5 days at the Copthorne.

From New Plymouth we drove to Wellington and spent a night there, it was much cooler there but sunny and pleasant, stayed at the Copthorne there and possibly had the best view of the bay.

Glad you enjoyed yourself, lots of your facebook photos remind me of alot of places I grew up (Otaki, bout an hour north of Wellington and near Waitomo). The wellington copthorne is also nice, I have stayed there before. I see you got an FG XR6 for the trip. I've just had my father in laws one for the last week and racked up a few hundred kays. Must say I was rather impressed with in and shows alot of improvement over his BA.

I had initially booked the Toyota Aurion, by all reviews I've read it's better. When I got to Thrifty they told me they upgraded me to the XR-6.

An upgrade is business speak for "we hired out what you booked to another customer so that his business didn't go to our competition. For getting in earlier, here have our better option that was lying around unhired".

I was looking forward to see how the Aurion is but the Ford was still pretty good. Petrol at $2.22 per litre yikes!! Although the AUD was doing very well at 1.25 NZD.

There was a lot more of NZ I would've liked to have seen at the places we stayed but our time was limited.

I really do want to check out the South Island. If the next Americarna is there I'll try to make it.
