Am wondering what the Standard diff ratio was for a Holden Running a
power glide geabox, talking HK HT HG series,
but had an idea of fitting a Glide to a 2 door torana,
This is a project idea for a 1/4 mile runner.
Also
Was there a different ratio from the V8 and Glide
to the 6 cylinder and Glide.
Cheers
Chris.

Unless you making good torque dont go for the glide for the plain reasson its only 2 gears

is an open ended plan atm,
Like I posted in the other thread about the jag diff,
am looking at picking up a damaged car for parts,
then assembling a drive line into a UC hatch body,
So the next thing is to find out standard Jag diff ratios.
one engine idea is a 4.2 litre Jag OHC 6 cylinder,
with some form of forced induction
Just kicking ideas around.
Cheers

The 6-cylinder HK/HTs with Powerglide transmissions normally used a 3.36 rear axle ratio.
The Powerglide was introduced in the HD series (1965) & was replaced in very late HT series (around May '70) by the Tri-Matic for all 6 & V8 engines except the 350 in the Monaro GTS. It was still used in the HG Monaro GTS 350 auto.
Rodomo, the number of different engines & transmisions etc. in a given model depends how you differentiate them. If you just count cubic inches then it's 3 sixes, 4 V8s, 5 transmissions, for the HT. If you count all the different compression ratios & gearbox ratios, then it's 12 engines (6 sixes & 6 V8s), & 7 transmissions. HGs have 15 engines (a Holden record), but ony 6 transmissions.

if this can be confirmed a high ratio like 2.78 should go nicely

Could be anywhere from 2.9 to 3.5 depending on year and transmission(overdrive etc)So the next thing is to find out standard Jag diff ratios.
You need to know what model the diff came out of or just establish the diff ratio by hand if you have the possible diff in front of you.

summary of jag engine,
heavy,
big torque,
no revs.
was talking to a mate about the UC 1/4 mile idea,
he said, this is coming from a GT Falcon owner,
"If you want to rev it, Chev it"
More research required.
Cheers again

130 ci, export only, used from HT to HQ & LC/LJ Torana but as I said export only.
The motor is listed in all the Australian owners manuals & other literature.
Could you imagine an HT/HG/HQ with a 130 ci 6-cylinder, it would be a bit gutless eh !
