A couple days ago the Check Engine warning comes on so we booked it in at the local stealership for today.
Service advisor rings me and tells me it needs a Variable Intake Kit to shut off the check engine light, $260 to supply and fit.
I asked is that covered by warranty, No he says.
I asked is it a consumable item, No he says.
I asked will it stop the car from running, No he says.
I asked if you reset the fault codes without fitting the Kit will the check engine light come back on, Yes he says.
So why do I need this kit, and why isnt it a recall item if they cant stop the check engine warning coming on without it? Or is there something I'm missing here?
James
ps The computer software would be upgraded to suit the new kit as well for the $260.
