G'day all,
The steering rack mounting bushes need replacing. What i'm wondering is if replacing them is just a bolt off, bolt on procedure. Or is there more involved. Also does anyone know any tips and tricks when it comes to doing it. One more thing should I go nolathane or just standard black?
Thanks in advance fellas.

Pretty much bolt off, bolt on. Just make sure you put chassis stands under the x member and get it nice and high before you start.

As Chopper said..straight forward and easy.

think you will only be able to buy nolathane or poly bushes .(not sure what the diff is,maybe stiffness??)

i tried to get rubber ones from pedders but they said they were not available
in rubber so i went with nolathane(red).

i also looked at whiteline website and they have no rubber either . think their bushes are poly ??

some one on here will know the diff between the two for sure just ask.

Mackay might make rubber bushes. They are sold through Repco and Bursons amongst other places.

^ cheers for that i'll look them up.

Does anyone know which brands are the best? I've been looking at Superpro and Nolathane. Nolathane are more expensive from what i've seen but not sure if they are better.

I'd buy Superpro over Nolathane any day of the week and twice on Sundays, so if they're cheaper so much the better!

I personally have not had any problems with either brand over the last 20 years, but others have had no end of trouble.

lol 76lxhatch I'm guessing you've had some issues with Nolathane, are they that bad? What problems have you had?

Some members have reported the bushes literally falling apart.

Superpro = made in Brisbane
Nolothane = made in China

Many examples of the Nolothane falling apart in recent times.
I have seen a couple of examples of same thing many years ago with Superpro - happily replaced for free and I have seen no recent issues with Superpro.

yeah that's what happened to mine. I found chunks of blue rubber on the driveway (after parking). I'm not sure what brand they were, They were pretty old so maybe they are the old Superpo ones. (if they are blue still)

I thought Nolathane were still made in Australia, if what you say is right I won't be getting Nolathane.

I'll go Australian made any day of the week, and It seems the general consensus is Superpro are the better type. So it looks like i'll try them.

they are making more and more in urethane and were quickly finding that when they stop making an item in rubber they are remaking it in urethane

if they make something in rubber they also make it in urethane, if they make it in urethane they dont always make it in rubber

Noltec is gone now anyway... thanks Nolathane/Whiteline

I try to go rubber where I can in a street car
But rack bushes couldn't hurt to have abit of stiffness in
I would prefer black though... so that leaves Mackay and Whiteline I believe

SuperPro can do black, at least they used to, just had to put in a special order.
And Orange as well. Think they also did yellow too.

I ended up getting a set of PolyTuff bushes for the steering rack. They're black urethane, I think they also do blue bushes as well. The best part is they are an Australian made and owned company. I Think they are based near Brisbane.
