Pinion angle is the relationship of the diff pinion and the rear of the gearbox. The diff pinion should be parallell to the output shaft of the gearbox (and ergo paralel to the centerline of the crankshaft of the engine) but not in a strait line.

My understanding is they should be parallel under acelleration, as the diff twists upwards under load. Anyway, within 2 degrees is apparently OK.

Yes, sorry.

Im getting to used to working on industrial gear :banghead:

If you have a rubber mounted diff then 2 degrees down from parallel.

Cheers.

Bomber hit.the.nail on the head, my biggest worry is that adjustable uppers will rotate.the.diff and give me a shitty driveline angle (pinion angle)

Hence the questions lol.

im going to look at the.chevelle uppers and maybe mcdonalds brothers lowers.

Newton's Third Law

A force is a push or a pull upon an object that results from its interaction with another object. Forces result from interactions! As discussed in Lesson 2, some forces result from contact interactions (normal, frictional, tensional, and applied forces are examples of contact forces) and other forces are the result of action-at-a-distance interactions (gravitational, electrical, and magnetic forces). According to Newton, whenever objects A and B interact with each other, they exert forces upon each other. When you sit in your chair, your body exerts a downward force on the chair and the chair exerts an upward force on your body. There are two forces resulting from this interaction - a force on the chair and a force on your body. These two forces are called action and reaction forces and are the subject of Newton's third law of motion. Formally stated, Newton's third law is:

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The control arms that Mc Donald Bros do for LC LJ toranas are not adjustable because of were the springs sit, the only way is by cutting the factory control arms.

I hope you wore a Burka if your driving around in a Fraud!!!

My god is there is no greater sin than owning a Fraud??? :wtf:

That sort of thing gets you a one way ticket to Purgatory.

Purgatory is a Roman Catholic myth, it doesn't exist.

Two of the Fords I bought brand new.

You got to put him on the right path.

Get him into the heart of the Lion.
As we know Henry Frauds are only good for simsmetal collection. LOL

The spring mount definitely struck me as a possible issue, however I see no issue with fabricating spring mounts for a n adjustable ntrol arm

You can work the spring mount into the adj design. From the the trailing arms I have brought Mc Donalds do a very good job. Blast and 2 pac them and your away.

Just make the adjustable section between the spring mount and the diff.

i like old mates idea of redrilling holes. 25mm forward on all arms then retrimm to look stock i reakon. i think ill do that to mine. but im drunk so this is the best time to make engineering calculations...........:0

I originally had my uppers & lowers shortened to centre the wheel, i wanted some more pinion angle so called mcdonald bros, i gave them the measurement of my existing shortened uppers, they assured me that the adjustable uppers would be fine & that i would not need a custom set made. I ordered them, removed my old arms & adjusted the new ones in as far as possible & they werre still 20mm longer!!! Very frustrating, had to take them to an engineer so the tubes could be shortened & the thread tapped further, was not happy but all good now, would have to admit its the best thing i've done to the car (pinion angle that is) the difference in acceleration & powering out of corners is unbeleivable! So be warned if ordering a set of adjustable uppers and if you plan to shift diff forwards you will need shorter arms than the normal production ones and you will still need to shorten your lowers.
