Im trying to run vs 304 gear (engine bellhousing and gearbox) but i kinda got 2 prob's first one is the gear stick is about 10cm to far back, and next is the tail shaft would sit way to low, (its sitting in line with hand brake cable now)

See if anything here helps

The following applies to the T56, I think it also applies to the T5, give Mal Wood a call.

There is a shorter extension housing that fits without cutting through the cross member and moves the shifter to the correct postion. Mal Wood was charging $2290 to convert the Commodore T56 to the shorter housing. I think the Mal wood housing also has both mechanical and electronic speedo outputs. I think the housing and shifter setup are from the Ford T5.

There are pictures in this thread of the Mal Wood T56 behind a 308. The car is owned by antelopeslr5000 .

If you send the New TUET 6000 to me we can set it up to suit your Torana, so what we do is strip the T56 and replace the shift rail, shift block, speedo gear, rear case, shifter etc and this cost will be $1850 for the parts and
$440 labour, the gearstick will now go through the correct place in the floor.

Or alternatively you can just sell your existing T56 and purchase our Road/Race T56 already set up to fit the Torana for $5990.

The ratios of the standard Tuet 6000 are 2.66,1.78,1.3,1.0,.74,.50 and the MWA Road/Race has ratios of 2.66,1.78,1.3,1.0,.80,.63.

You will also require our underdash clutch unit @ $690, Braided line @ $160, Braided Remote bleed @ $145, New mount @ $45, New crossmember @ $195, New speedo cable @ $78, New speedo angle drive @ $125, New slip yoke @ $115

Hi guys,
Just a follow up on another question i asked before with my t5 not sitting right in my lx torana trans tunnel.
Wondering if someone here has put on of these boxes in their lh-lx and what needed to be done to make it fit?
I really dont wanna go the ford t5 opition as i already have everything i need set up in the car.

I understand i gotta cut the shifter hole bigger......no worries,
Its just the way the box sits to low towards the tailshaft that has me worried and if i need to cut the floor to make it fit or just bash it round alittle?

If someone has done this before can the please reply so i can ask them a couple Q's

Cheers guys!!!!
Brad

I put a T5 into my hatch. EFi 5 litre with Torana engine mounts, CRS trans crossmemember and a custom exhaust. The T5 fit into the tunnel fine. I have had to cut the hole for the shifter though, that is all it needed. The car was previously an auto. I picked up my new tailshaft today (which I got custom made) and it fits in fine apart from the builder putting the wrong diff uni on.

I have done exactly the same as homer has done to his hatch except I used a cross member from barsbys. If you are going to use the mechanical speedo you will need a 90 degree adaptor and some minor tunnel mods ( I just used a hammer to tap the tunnel to give the adaptor some clearance).

The ford 6 cyl ea to el will fit much easier, shifter stay in stock torana position.

Hole for the shift has to be enlarged at the rear by around 1cm.

This doesnt help the guys trying to use a V8 or V6 holden box as the bellhousing is to long for the ford input shaft

I have a VR 5l in mine. I bought my extractors off ebay a while back for an ok price. They are castle headers. Had to modify them a bit as they wanted to touch the floor, but an oxy fixed that.

use HQ brackets and mounts and also does the motor seem to be laying back a fair bit ?? if it is i would say that your box needs to come up to level the motor out a bit. i had the same dramas untill i sorted the tranny out
