Ok so I've got power back to everything but it's still not cranking. Like it does when you try to start it in gear but I've removed the neutral switch and it's still not cranking

I saw my dad do it many years ago but no I don't know. I did see if it had power and the pos had power at the starter.
Remove the violet wire from the male spade connector on the starter solenoid, then use a screwdriver to short the main cable connection on the solenoid across to the male spade connector. If the starter is working she will crank. If nothing then the starter might be stuffed.

INOX would be best but ya gotta use what's on hand !

Oh, 2nd thing ... If you have your ignition to the "ON" position & crank the starter as discussed it should start
even though the barrel wont do it's job as normal. That's as long as you have the normal dash lights that come on
when the key is turned to the "on" position...

Ok did it and it cranked over. :-/ now what? Is their any way to check the ignition barrel? There is 3 terminals on that like I said though it's working from off to acc but going to on/crank no luck
So you have also tested with a volt meter and there isn't any power coming through the ignition switch to the violet starter wire?

Nope no luck :-(
Ignition switch might be stuffed. As Gordon said, turn the ignition to the ON position and then use the screwdriver on the starter motor, the engine should start and run if the problem is only in the start circuit.
P.S. Make sure the tranny is in neutral and the handbrake is on.

Sorry should have mentioned this before.
It did start by shorting the starter but I can't take it to the tuner like that. Haha can I touch two wires together on the ignition barrel to start it in the car like that?

My ignition barrel fell out of my HR on the way to work once in ' 87 - Lucky I had the skill to hot wire my own car !

i.e a butchered lc barrel?
or the vn style?
you can take the barrel/lock bit out and use a screwdriver sometimes....or replace...
on vn's it's a 30 second job
and yes you can hotwire a vn easily....VERY EASILY

Ask Gordon (toranarama), he's an expert at hot wiring cars, apparently.
