If these clips are so hard to get, has anyone come up with any good ideas to replace them? Ie does a little bit of sikaflex or silicon do the job? I also thought maybe the putty you use for radiator/petrol tank repairs might work? A little dob on the back should hold the pins in, but might be a pain if you want to take them out again...? Anyone got any recomendations? Maybe some heat shrink around them?

No conclusion as far as I'm aware. None of the ones Les sent me worked.

brad that would be tipical of your perseverance and attention to detailLes sent me a stack also. None fitted straight up, but I carefully ran a drill bit through the centre of one particular size and it worked a treat. The outter diameter fitted the nose cone no worries and once I drilled the inner out a smidge. The badge fitted in also. Shit I can't remember which type it was.... Hmmmm.
plus a bit of ingenuity
i say bugger it! never give up!
have you sold that beautiful black beast?
personally i hope not!

Had a hunt through my 5500 pics of he build......
Found a pic of this little bag of plugs. Not sure if this part number matches anything on Rares website or not? But yeah as I said I ran a drill bit rough the centre quickly to avoid deforming the plastic. The outer diameter fitted perfect.
Here we go.

they are a very snug fit to the hole, meaning no plastic plug could be used and the metal cup that fits on the back wont fit either. WTF

Highly unlikely they were plastic from factory on the early models considering these are from 78 UC
unless they upgraded to metal for that model?
bit of a fancy looking thing, was not meant to come out going on the "lock wings" ?
plg.JPG
They are plastic have one made up as a sample and fits spot on

This is the sample we have for development, we do not have any other update at this stage as to time etc. I should have further information within the next month on this project.

this is a issue we are now coming across also we have tried the metal clips but they do not fit in the original holes of our hatch lid
I prefer to use plastic retainers as they don't chip the paint and cause rust issues
what is the current use to get around this problem
Thanks

Cheers Dave. Nah mate, no one is interested in it. I was thinking I could strip it and part it out on eBay to get rid of it. Took it off carsales as I'm sick of it being scammed on other sites.

It's ok Brad. I will knock up a few sets when I retire. It's only about ten years away.
I wonder what material was used to make them on a model lathe? It would have to be pretty soft wouldn't it?
