i have a VT HSV 304 that i'm going to put in the hatch. I've been told that the 304 is ready to accept a 355 crank, is this correct?
So all i need to do is get a 355 crank and thats it? I was just going to give a freshen up - rings, gaskets, etc.. but am now thinking of putting a stoker crank in while its opened up. Seems like cheap hp to me.
And is it correct thats is not worth changing the cam because of the standard manifold?
Cheers

VT HSV 304 stroke to 355

The blocks fitted to the VR series 2 and after are set up to take the stroker crank. It i's the VT version these had the roller cams too. I've had the VR SS and I have the VT with the stroker 220i and I can tell you the engine is a much smoother unit. The manifold is a restriction for sure, unless you wanted to go to a twin throttle body or star performance manifold, but the cam will make a difference. You don't need to go radical though all it does is run like a dog and use fuel like it's going out of fashion.

Here is a picture of a block that Michael has described above.

As you can see in this photo below, the block has been cast with clearance for the 5.7 Litre crank.
