Basically, the grey bit in the pick Andy posted up, and the description Paul gave, you shouldt be abel to see that whilst turning the engine over by hand. Either from above (through the sideplates) or from below (looking up from the sump area)
Cheers.

Would it be pushrod length when at full lift the pushrod being to short and allowing this to occur.

If and when you do the pressure test you wouldn't be looking for any specific amount of oil, what you'd be watching for is a noticeable increase when the pressure goes over 30 psi.

You could try cutting the top out of an old rocker cover or trim the top off some old sideplates so you could run it without making too much of a mess. Watch how much oil flows at say 1000 - 1500rpm and compare it to what you get at 30psi (say 3000rpms or so).
If you don't see anything obvious you may have to drop the sump off and pressure test it as described earlier.

Engine builder is actually going to come to my house next week and do some testing and checks with it while its in the car and running.
Guess we'll just see how that goes.
Thanks Chris.

My suggestion is to take it out and pull it down yourself. It should only be an afternoon to get it on a stand. THEN GO THROUGH EVERYTHING YOURSELF. (yes I have trust issues!)

any reason you asked this Kevin?
arh not really mate just grasping at straw's, and trying to relate to other's.
i figured that with the girdle bolted down, if the caps werent all the same height and eng wasnt line honed with girdle fitted it could have distorted the block enough to open the clearances up.
im just a little weary on them as ive been told by my eng builder buddy that in certain applications they like to turn main bearings out. ie 308's.

Honestly I am actually enjoying playing with cars again now.
I know that the new owner has tipped about 2g into the motor lately but I'm unsure on the outcome.
Did hear that car will probably be on the market again soon lol.
Cheers Chris.

It hardly moved for 3 years and is lost total interest in the end.
I actually enjoy working on something different after having the torry for so long.
It is funny fixing someone else's crappy work but it is an extremely clean car.
New paint, 308, forged bottom end, reverse cowl scoop, fully fabricated tray with tubs and comfortably fits 10s on the back, n2o etc.
Few things to sort but nothing major. And the funny thing is I actually had cash left over lol.
