I will be there with "Torana Tough" and what's left of "Monaro Magic". Anyone who wants their copy signed no problem and this includes old stuff.

Will there be any 'festival' type thing for the kids, night time events, night street cruise?

Any itinerary?

Mick, for the uneducated, does the merchandise tent operate on a cash basis or will it have EFTPOS facility?

Mick

Hi Mick

I am glad that you brought that up..

We did look into this..

We are not able to get an Eftpos Machine for the event. The reason being is that the fees associated with the EFTPOS machine are just too expensive.

The closest ATM is about 700m away up in Hunter St.

Wide Open Road was put to air on the ABC last October over 3 Sunday nights. There is also a Book that covers the questions and answers plus more and great stills. The same production team is now looking at the Gough Whitlam period.

Mick I have an EFTPOS machine. I am surprised you cound not hire one for the weekend from a friendly bank!!

Yep, I've emailed away to get details about the cruise and was just wondering if there'll be a closed off section of main road for an hour or so for the cars to strut by. I've seen this at Americarna, it was fabulous but I guess the Torana's could do this 'informally' down the main drag that evening?

By itinerary I was meaning if there's a timeslot to meet up for the cruise, when we'd be back by, timeslot for the meet & greet, etc.

What do the t-shirts look like?

Also, as it's my first time entering in a car event, I notice the cars have to be on the lawn no later than 9am and it closes at 3.30.

How long do you have to stay on the lawn for?

Of course I'll be keen to hang around and check out all the cars ... but... I'll be travelling with a friend and 8 year old and knowing how active the boy is, he won't want to stick around all day in the same spot for too long without some entertainment.

I'll more than likely get there early without them and have them meet me on the lawn but can I leave the grounds earlier if we decide to go for another cruise around Newcastle after lunch say?

I can always have them leave the event on their own to check out the local area but could I say, lock the car on the lawn and go for a stroll along the beach? I realise it'll be at my own risk.

Yeah Steve, i think it was last year there was another car show on over the road and we went to check it out leaving my hatch there open, its no issue at all and there are so many people there that can look after it for you when you head out for a walk but like you said its always at your own risk.

Awesome, I'd probably lock it anyway just in case.

The spiel on the website says:

Due to it's great location,
Toranafest also caters for the family by having easy access to the Hunter St Mall and Nobbys Beach

so I'm figuring many will want to take a stroll throughout the day.

Hey Mick
have you ever thought of doing a Toranafest DVD, for people interstate that can't get there?

Bit like Muscle Car Masters DVD, yearly one.

Funny you mention that Ian,

I have spoken to Mick and I will be coming up to film the event for a segment on the next Performance Street Car DVD.

For those with kids, if they become a handful and need some other entertainment you could get the other half to take them to

100% Kids Expo
Sunday 16th September, 2012
Newcastle Entertainment Centre
10am to 4pm

I'm told there will be some festival type rides.
