I just took another look at my air filter assy that I did up, I bought it off eBay NOS. Looks like my lack of knowledge has bitten me on the ass again....

It must be off some other type of Holden?? The front of it has a rocker cover breather pipe attached to it.... I think on Torana this pipe should be at the rear of the housing....

Bugger me......

Could be that the breather on "can" should be at the back & connect to pass.side rear roka cover.
with pcv on drvr. front.
Not sure, hopfully someone can enlighten you on set up!
GM might have changed mid prod.,,who knows.

Possibly off Car with factory air, large Fridgidaire compressor on front of rocker cover on drivers side, large housing on firewall covers rear of passenger side rocker cover. Have had same aircleaner on 5.0 ltr SS with fatory air.

I'd say a HQ/HZ air filter. Has the wrong sticker for a Torana LH 5.0L.

Do you mean the sticker on the air filter lid? Or the one on the box?

I'd say a HQ/HZ air filter. Has the wrong sticker for a Torana LH 5.0L.

LH SLR 5000 Sept 75
Both cars featured in Torana Tough

My apologies, sticker is correct, but according to Rares, is shared with the HJ, so it may be a HJ air filter.

G'day Hanra,
I looked for my original air cleaner (5.0 Litre SS) and I must have tossed it like so many original parts I ditched in my 20's. I do recall that the stickers were as per Yella SLuR's post with "GMH" and "5.0 LITRE" though. The original air cleaner definitely connected to the passenger rear rocker breather via a short rubber hose.

Possibly off Car with factory air, large Fridgidaire compressor on front of rocker cover on drivers side, large housing on firewall covers rear of passenger side rocker cover. Have had same aircleaner on 5.0 ltr SS with fatory air.

I don't know if my compressor was Figidaire I actually threw the whole set up in the bin when it was found that the compressor shaft was somehow bent and the whole car would shake when the A/C was on. Young, dumb and impatient, I really regret some of the Holden parts I threw out. Anyway I kept my original "Holden Integrated Air Conditioning" Owner's guide which shows my July '76 SS was fitted with A/C in December '77 in Kalgoorlie with 24054 kilometers on the odometer.
