Lj308 would have been a personalized plate? Not sure when they began in Vic but maybe after the build date.

Ron Hodgson Racing in Sydney built The Red V8 XU-1 Car in 1972,  it had a 308 V8 in it, they tried to rego it in NSW, but wasn't allowed, so they took it and rego it in ACT YES308, tried to transfer the rego from ACT to NSW, but not on, sold it and it ended up in Tony Sarri Dealership, he said that Ron Hodgson Racing built 10 V8 LJ XU-1's, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm very interesing

Look what I found on book face, the guy reconds he bought them from "the rego place"
He had no idea of the history.

Followed your thread on, and off for a while.  Very interested especially (if I have gotten this correctly) your enquiry as to whether your car is one of the prototype LJ V8's or not - I think your detective work probably more interesting than whatever the result might bring and I imagine with every answer comes a new question or two?  I am however a tad confused as exactly where you are with your provenance enquiries, and I am very keen to learn the story of the 'known-knowns, the known-unknowns and the unknown-unknowns' as I think that prat Donald Rumsfeld once aspired to depict...

 

In any case, is there any chance you can chuck up a summary/precis of it all please? 

Sort of like hitting the re-set button for those of us, (like me) who were not paying enough attention at certain junctures and now a tad lost in the myriad of it all?
