Big hello from a new member.
I am sure this has been covered before but I didn't find everything I need.
As the topic says , I would like to V8 my Torana
1.Besides getting an engineers certificate, which parts have to be upgraded?
2.Which engine and which automatic gerabox are straight fit?
What needs to be changed to get it installed.
Can anyone here that has already done this get back to or send me private msg.

What is in the UC now? 4 or 6cyl as it will make a difference.
Basically though, 308 and trimatic go straight in but you will need V8 Torana engine mounts. Brakes will need to be upgraded as will the diff.
So many options depending on how much power you want and how much money you have.
350 Chev conversions are possible as well depending on Modification laws in VIC.
The UC shares pretty much that same chassis and body as LH\LX so anything that suits the rust buckets will suit the superior UC as well.
Plenty of people here have done V8 conversions to UC and the other box Toranas. Suss out the project threads as there is heaps of info there as well.

I would like to put in 253 engine and automatic gearbox.
My Torana is 6 cyl.
Can I use brakes of some later Commodore?
I am after a cheap conversion so anything that I can use from other car I will.

My UC was also a 6 cyl, It has a 308, T5 box, Ford 9 Inch rear end with commodore disc brakes. This car went together no probs, you may want to check your local rules for rego.
Also FANTA! UC Sedan (also now in the NT) has had a 253 installed.
The magical UC register has a number of examples.
Dirtbags UC to LX conversion (I think the thread is "building my brothers UC hatch" or similar) is a great example of what can be done with a UC both mechanically and cosmetically.

i am to intrested what happens with rego? why does it matter if its a 6 or a 4? can the K frame just be changed?
i am on the market for a lx-lh..
