Ok so we all know the donks were painted Rocket Red.... And the PPG code for that is ACR3 or 10890.

This donk in the below pic I assume is around the era of LX? How do the colours look??? Not after codes, just want to know what it should look like....

Yeah just wanting to know colour of things like fan/alt bracket/oil filter/pulleys etc. That's what I'm asking now.

I reckon it is too neat to be a production version, it'll be a dress up for photos. Production engines have much more overspray on the timing case and valley cover. That is also an early LH (HQ style) 308 engine. The later ones (HJ style) post HJ release were higher hp and 9.7:1 ratio. Not sure what minor changes there were with accessories and other such stuff. HJ onwards engines also had clear lacquer sprayed all over the engines to gloss them up. That photo is defintely an LH engine though as it has the PCV valve on the front driver's side. Others had the breather there and the PCV on the rear passenger side.

I would have thought that if it was LH, the PCV valve should have a T piece in it to go to the Charcoal Canister? I thought the engine in this pic may have been LX.

So blue fan was stock?

the rocker cover oil cap is on the right side for the full bodied cars HJ, Torana V8,s are on passenger side

also appears to have a single heater hose outlet on the water pump which was finished in 74, yet all the fittings say its torana

The single outlet water remained until ADR27A , July 1976.

No charcoal canisters on early LH, they began around Nov/Dec 1974.

I'm with you, the blue fan doesn't look correct.

Bit of a bugger though, that means i need one for my Nov 1975 HJ GTS/4 as well as the L34. i see a retailer asking $295 each
and a rebuild after that.

Me thinks its about time someone made new ones

Checked out the local auto paint shop today.

They actually had a really old GMH paint codes book there!!!

HK ROCKET RED 10890 was listed. Some of the tinters are NLA, so they are going to have a play around and try and mix it up.

They also had Holden Grey 10367 which Im going to use for the bonnet hinge springs. Hoping its close to fergie grey??

The only colour Im stumped on is the Satin Engine bay??? Anyone know the code for this???

Oil pump is unpainted. Even now you void the warranty if you paint a new one........

At a guess they don't want you damaging it or getting paint in it........
