Gday,

Started the rebuild on me torrie 8 months ago due to a tired engine and bog bubbles in the paint. I thought of having ago at restoring it myself but with work commitments and a automatic lack of talent soon as spanner touches my hand I'm getting a professional to do it. After a chat with the mechanic/owner of the shop we agreed on tough streeter that will hold its own on the quarter mile. The plan was to fit the engine, gearbox, brakes, roll cage and all the other work first that will scratch fresh paint job later one.

The Scott Shafiroff 434 small saturday night special has been fitted/shoe horned with a T400 and removed , hopper stopper breaks and axels to handle the horsepower of the new engine also in. The 16 inch simmonds rims have been sent of to fit out the flares so I I'll end up with 245s on the front and 315 mickey Ts on the back. The drop tank is polished up to it forner glory and just recently its been soda blasted. Mixed results there was not one bit of rust anywhere but the previous repairs need a bit of work. I have been lucky to find replacement hatch, but still looking for drivers door to keep the project going. I'll see how i go posting some pictures my Iphone photos of the engine are to big to upload.

Close as possible to the silver colour that was on it, but with the black outs. I know there is thousands of torries with the black outs but that's what I have always wanted

Good choice. It looks ace before the build, so it is going to be one hell of a car!

It's been a while since an update, most of the work on the previous poor rust repairs is completed and the hatch and drivers

door is finished :D . In my excitement I forgot to take photos of the repairs done on the knackered door and work done

to make a rusty hatch door and a unrepairable hatch door one door.

Hopefully the panel beater took some photos and and i can post later.

Should be in primer now and painted in a few weeks fingers crossed.

Now that i have figure out how to down size photos that are too big to post ,iI'll post some previous pic's of the motor fitting in

later.

Love it mate

love all hatches this thing should rock when finshed .I'm with you on the blackouts they look "right" keep posting updates .

What size are widening rims to ? My hatch is running 17x11 with 315s on back i had a little bit of trouble with rubbing with passengers until i changed the top spring pads from standard thickness to 20 or 25 mm i can't remember but can now cruise with 2 passengers and only tyre rub is from "large" bumps.

Garth here are some pictures of the back tyres on it before the strip down. The problem with 16 inch simmons they got bugger all tyre choice, the rear rims were widened to 11s and then we realised the only tyres that fit this rim are drag radials. You can't tell buy my poor photos tyres fit perfectly cause of cutting of the wheel arches but the flares on the ends touched, they're getting modified to fit. I'm using the 245s that were on the back and placing them on the front with some adjustment to the rims to fit out the flare, I'm not a fan of cheese cutters on the street( luv the fat look) but will be looking for a skinny set of simmons for the strip.

G'day all,

All the body and panel repairs are complete, its been sitting in primer for a few weeks. as you can see the painters thrown some colour in the engine bay and doors "Luvin the silver". Just waiting on some final weldinding work on the roll cage so it can be painted the same colour, then it's the bodies turn. Not far to go now. :buttrock:

After weeks of the car sitting around in primer and waiting for the roll cage to be finished the parts didn't for the easy release coupler have not arrived from America. The decision was made to go ahead with the paint and tig weld after its painted. At the moment the painter is going ahead with aligning all panels ready to paint. Should be painted in three weeks I've been told in time for when I get back home and it heads back to the shop to refit all the running gear. Sorry about sh!tty photos

As you would of already guessed I am not doing any work to my car itself because of work commitments and lack of skill with any thing to do with cars. But after reading all these threads there might be a project on the horizen that i could attempt myself , maybe a stocko cruiser. But for know I am relying on others to build and take photos.
So here a few pics I got of the shop building my car from when the project started to when it was ready for paint.

Visited the paint shop today and the body has just been painted :buttrock: the way it looked off the gun in the sun I was chuffed. The rubber has been fitted to bumpers a looks a treat. Couldn't fit the flares as the washers were too big an would scratched the paint in the flare recess. The only thing left to paint is the bonnet, that will be painted after the

engine is fitted and the air cleaner fits.Should be at the Paint shop for one more week then back to fit the running gear.

Hi all the Torry's all painted, flares fitted, bumbers on and back in the shop for the driveline to be put back in. There are few isssues with the bob tail not lining up and where the silver finishes and the black undercarrage starts in the engine bay. The painter will sort that out when its up on the hoist and will have another go at the back spoiler :banghead: The front end is at the powdercoaters getting the silver and black treatment. Then it will ready for re-bushing and the motor to go back in.
