In 2010 the NSW rules did allow the engineer to consider the exhaust as part of the departure angle. I am not sure if that has changed.

Always on top of the technical info, thanks Ls2lxhatch.
Not sure off the actual brand and product SmacT, but I specified that I didn't want paint underneath just stoneguard and this is how I leaving it.
I had a torana previously painted in 2pac yellow underneath and I hated cleaning it.
Some pics prior to the stone guard going on.

The new tank arrived at the workshop this week. I put the old tank next to it to check the difference in departure angles, looks good to me
As you can see from the markings its lost about 70mm to make it legal.

Not much to report visually with the car, lots of little unseen wiring and fuel plumbing items being completed.
Things should ramp up over the next few weeks as the car has been entered in Gazzanats in March.
Pics below of the drop tank in place waiting on custom tank straps to arrive.

Burnout comp straight up!!! Nah, just going to have a bit of fun in the cruise sessions.
I haven't driven a high horsepower torana in about 13 years, I will be easing in to it slowly.

It is a bit strange how low the filler neck is mounted in the tank. Normally you would have around 10 mm above the neck to reserve air space for expansion like the old tank.
Once the fuel level reaches the top of where the neck meets the tank there is no way for air to escape so you won't be able to use the top 30 mm (guessing from the photo) of the tank unless you have a really good breather system running to higher up on the filler. I can't see any sign of a breather system on the tank.

A few more thing to report on the hatch
Vacuum pump installed and plumbed, fuel and transmission lines in, deeper pan for the transmission and brackets for the tranny cooler welded on to the front of the radiator.

The thermo fans appear to be the Ford AU fans. They require some trimming of the fan shroud and either the chassis rails or the fan blades.

Not long now I can see the finish line, the hand made exhaust and mufflers have been fitted.
It was due to be started up but as usual with these type of builds the tank needs a small modification due exhaust fowling.
It's off the painters to fix a few outstanding items/issues and to trial fit the bonnet to see if fowls the reverse scoop.

Looks great. Seems you've got the same issue with the handbrake as I have. It hits the exhaust and tail shaft loop.
At the moment hand break cable is not hooked up just thread through to the back of the car, last job to after exhaust and fuel tank fitted.

Not much to report since the last update. It was going to be ready for gazza nats but couldn't go due to the organisers double booking 6 spots for S&E Autos , so there is no rush anymore.
Got it fully insured, so it's covered on the back of the trailer to finish it up.
At the moment its getting its bonnet fitted, painted, rear flares extended and repainted, also some minor paint items fixed up.
Couple more weeks fingers crossed.
