Can anyone help me with info on how to fit these things!
I am working on the rear at the moment but will need to do the front as well... Do I have to remove the clips from the old ones and drill and fit to new ones?
Also, the little bit that hangs out from the rest of it... does that go where the channel is on the rear quarter window?
any info would be great..
Cheers

Basically, the aftermarket strips are wrong.
For a four dooor, they should have those metal clips on them.
But you have to use the 2 door style clips. Which you cannot buy.
These

Work, but i wasnt 100% happy with them.

I have all the old clips but it seems that I will have to drill the new ones to fit the clips...
Yes, it is a 4 door but they came clean as.. no clips attached...

Will I have to trim the bottom around each bit where the clips go to lower the whole lot?

Like i said, the outer weather strips are wrong. They are based off a 2 door one and just shortened. The manufacturers wont listen though.
Inner ones are wrong to for the rear, again, they wont listen.

We are listening, we removed the outer door belts from sale August last year and we are remaking them as per original. As for the inners what is the problem with them if they are wrong we will fix them.Should go over it. But you can trim if you wish.

The rear inners clips are to wide to fit into the slots as per origional, so you have to fit them underneath the lip as per front doors and 2 door cars, which makes them sit very low and look shithouse.
Old mate you refereed me to tried to convince me they fit up as per the front doors, untill i sent him a copy of the genuine LC workshop manual, then he just ceased responding. obviously didnt want to know.

Either way its been a month, and we were far from in agreeance at the time of the last email he sent me, a quick "im going on holidays" would not have hurt.

I had a good look with the original one and the clips will allow for the seal to overlap that raised bit.. I will give it a go as I would like to use the clips to hold it...
Gotta get the vynal tops glued on then take it from there...

If they are wrong and the manufacturer has confimed that they are wrong then what are they doing about people that have purchased them in good faith thinking that they would be fit for purpose.
In other industries manufacturers recall items that are faulity or do not work as intended.
I purchased a set of external weather strips for my 2 door around 12 mothns ago and am about to buy some clips to fit them. They were purchased from Rare Spares.
I have 2 questions
1. Will they fit
2. Will Rare spares clips work and are the ones below what I need ?

The clips shown in that link are for the inner belt strip not the outer belt weather strip.
I have not personally used a set of Rare Spares 2dr outer belt weather strips but I saw them when they were first released and compared side by side to an original NOS strip they are near identical.

You having a two door yourse should be correct. All the outer weather strips are based on the two door one, even though the four door had a different design. Same for the inners.
It seems the supplier is doing very little. I agree its BS but hey, where else are we gonna go??
If les isnt telling porky pies it seems the four door outer strips have been pulled off the shelf and correct ones are being made up, but i wouldnt hold my breath and i highly doubt people will be given compensation for the incorrect parts, as with all of the other rares incorrect parts which sadly you have to buy before you find out.
The Betta auto rubber outers are also wrong for a four door, there identical to the rares ones (repackaged rares??)

I spent all day trying to get this right, close, but not 100% happy yet!
I drilled the new outer seals to take the old clips which worked ok...
This is how it looks for now.. not too bad but need to fix the front a bit.. not sure why it done that..
The inner worked out good as they come with clips...
One thing that made it a pain for the inner was the vynal.. I had to trim so the clips would go in...
These were from Batta Auto Rubber. The door seals are awesome though!!!

I don't wish to be critical and it's been a long time since I worked on 4dr LC/LJ but I have a suspicion that you've got the inner belt strip clips upside down. I'm pretty sure they are supposed to be installed so the hair felt strip pushes down into them and sits higher up on the panel.

You've done it now Bomber, I'm intrigued, so now I'm going to have to go and check out the Rare Spares 4dr outer strips on Saturday.

Cheers!

Well... I stuffed up one set of the rear strips so got myself another pair... One of the last jobs I'm getting to... bugger... I have been avoiding them hoping the fairy would do them for me.... bloody slack fairies!!!
Anyways... HELP!!!!
Can anyone throw up some pics on what they did to fit these f#@kin things!!
Yes, I know no-one makes them to fit... but that dont help me... I have played with one I buggered up and it seems if I reduce the depth so the strip sits above the original clip bits on the inside of the door, and cut slits in it so it will bend to the shape of the rear door, it may sit ok... I was going to Sicaflex them in like Limo suggested....

Well, I had a crack at the F@#King rear outers and I gotta say... this is the worst job out of the whole car!!! Stuffin things!!!
I ended up sticking them on with the bostik stuff... I had to trim them and cut grooves into them so they would bend to the shape of the rear door...
I cut the steps out of it so they would slide down flat inbetween the lugs inside of the door....
I then cut slits into the bottom most of the way along... this made them flex and it was easy to get the curve into it....
Bostik them on so will see how it all dries....
Becuase I cut the slits into them, I could not use the clips even if I wanted to.... It's a bit rough but how else could I do it? Not being able to get right outers that fit is an issue.... one day someone might make them....
Now to touch up the paint I stuffed up.....
Cheers
