The crash test date on the car door is 9/6/92.
Our investigations reveal that this massive smash was carried out back in 1992 to test the limits of a new crash test facility. The Commodore was loaded with some 400kg of extra ballast in the footwells, and fired into the concrete wall at 62mph – faster than the normal NCAP test.

You must, if you feel the need to keep posting negative comments in this thread. If you don't like it, stop reading it. Simple.
As for crumple zones, in this platform car (early commodore/Opel) they don't exist. Still, I can't see how a small piece of 1.6mm sheetmetal would make the difference you suggest. But I'm taking your remark as sarcasm, whether it was meant that way or not, as I don't care enough to have a petty argument on the internet. I just cant sleep, so I'm jinning about in here : )

375 Kg of sand and was 100Kmh into a solid wall.
thats why i put overiders on the SL/E, but in the end a wall will win.
& my daily driver is a 4WD with a bullbar, our speed limits are 130km on some roads up here.

Gotta love a 4x4 and a bullbarthats why i put overiders on the SL/E, but in the end a wall will win.

Did the Monza have factory headlight wipers? (like VB/VC SL/E ones)

I tapered the front of the rail cover so it followed the shape of the rail. I'm not sure what radiator or fans are being used so I didn't want to take up any more space than I had to.
I also welded up the bigger holes in the inner guard and welded a piece over the big indent in the inner guard as well.

I then started welding up all the holes and bots and pieces on the passengers side as well as finishing off the rail.

I cut the battery tray out as the metal underneath isn't flat anyway, so I'll weld in a flat piece.

I dont like this little lump on the drivers side, so it's going.

I then started on getting rid of the big indent behind the passengers strut tower.

No more indent : )

Well that's pretty much got the inner guards done other than seam welding around the seam on the strut towers, but I'll do that after the bay gets blasted.
I still want to weld up a few holes in the firewall too but I need to check behind the dash first to make sure I don't melt anything.

I put the front bits and pieces back on, but I've only clamped the stone tray on so all the areas inside are easier to sandblast with it not in place.

I now need to track down some VH front bumper brackets so I can look at mounting the new front bumper/spoiler. Next job though is going to be removing the tar from inside the cab. Yay : )

Early Commodores are a crumple zone,
I'm pretty sure I've heard somewhere that the commodore in that particular test had no engine or tailshaft fitted. But yeah I shit myself when first seeing it.

Awsome work as always, might i suggest also changing the lower rad support to a vl on as it opens up alot of options for rads and thermofans.
just looked at standard vk & vl radiators on ebay,
VL 86 - 88, V8,545x430x45, Suits Auto or Manual, trans cooler in outlet tank, 3 row core,
VB/VC/VH/VK, 79 - 85, V8, 545x430x48
the dimensions are similar..... but the high end alloy PWR has separate models for VK & VL
