I have seen both colours in real life, not just in pics and they are pretty close but like you say, the HX has glitter in it. Maybe Barnys shirt after being at a kids party
I think you may be assuming the Burgundy on my car is Barney's Shirt , that is an '84 toyota colour ( as i understand from one of the previous owners)........... Barney's Shirt is the pink /lilac colour that the car was originally painted at the factory.............quite a bit different !
Agree the burgundy looks similar but the HX is a metallic.

Thanks guys it was a 1 owner car when i got it a few years ago. Its a big block 173/9? with a column shift trimatic. The thing that amazes me is i owned it for a year before i jacked it up to make it hq pattern and thats when i found out that it has a LSD diff! It even came with its service books owners manual and even the old plastic windscreen in case you got a broken screen on a trip. They used to rattle and crinkle like all hell! It even had factory touch up paint in the glove box. The best part was it was cheap and literally 2 streets from my house. Its a fun cruiser compared to my other toys.
Cheers Tony

Interesting that. The guy I bought my car off kept the original bonnet as it had this spear on it? Never seen one before. Is it a NASCO thing?

can anyone put me in contact with the guy who had the pur pull XU-1 at the book launch, I wanted to speak with him, but got distracted getting my book signed and asking questions?
It was good to see the Barney's shirt Torana, and hope more can be found on this interesting XU-1, it was good to finially meet Larry.
I am glad I made the trip from WA, it was great meeting everone, thanks to Norm Darwin, Peter Mathews and Wayne Hart for the rides to and from the Launch.
"Torana Tough" is the best thing that has ever been printed on the Toranas and will be the main Torana reference book for a great many years to come.
