I was looking for a Dwyers rear window decal for my Holden that was also sold from the Dwyers Holden Dealership Wollongong and came across your posting
You may want to try the RTA of N.S.W. Freedom Of Information
I know that they will or can not give out personal details about the previous owner/s but it may give you some additional information about the car that may help you in your quest
They can and will let you know what suburbs and the years / months the car was registered in and these may be additional options for posting an advert in other areas
Another option is to post an advert in the local Wollongong news paper and see if this turns up anything
You never know
Another option would be to contact local car clubs to see if anybody can remember the car in this area
Keep chiseling away and some thing may turn up
Would also like to know if you have one of the Dwyers rear window decals or a scan of one in your posting
Cheers
Greg

I have tried the freedom of information people and have come up with nothing I'm afraid.
All the NSW records have been turfed I was told.
Victoria RTA has a site were you can check engine numbers and rego numbers etc at a cost bit nothing seems to be available for NSW unfortunately.
I may get around to putting an add in one day. Just need to get motivated!
I think I did check out car clubs but would have to go back and check as I don't know were I got to on that one.
I have two window decals. One is smaller than the other one.
I can do a scan for you and e mail it.
Maybe you can get one made up.
Check with Grafix www.grafixunlimited.com.au . They may be able to make one for you.

Thanks for getting back to me
my email address is
[email protected]
If you could scan and email both sizes that would be great
Thanks heaps
Greg
I have one name but have no idea about if this person is still with us
Murry Lockett was a salesman in 1969 at the Wollongong site
Have a look at this page and you will see the DWYERS CITY HOLDEN logo
http://dwyerscity.ca...ninemsn.com.au/
If you were to remove the Holden logo you may have a suitable rear window decal for your Torana
The ones that you have are the older style from late 60's early 70's
I have a couple of receipts so I will also scan them to lift the logos for you to have a look at
Only black and white

Is yours an early car LC LJ ?
If so I may as well give the decals to you if they dont suit my car.
Scans on the way.
Maybe someone here can do decals I'll start a thread on it.
I'll send you a pm cheers
I tried M Lockett in the white pages and nothing shows up for Wollongong.
I copied and saved this so I may be able to do something with this.

Sorry to say that it is not an LC or LJ now that would be nice
Maybe one day
I have been trying to convince the other half that she we I need an LC or LJ
It is only a 1969 HT Kingswood Wagon 161 DBAR 3OTM
I have a friend over here who is very good with Torana info so I will pick his brain and see if he may know of how to track down who ordered your car new
Certainly worth a try
Cheers

not sure exactly it may have done.
before the accident perhaps.
Thing with this car is it has a chamois interior.
Was the A999X or AX999 car black or chamois?
Afterwards it had ACT plates YVQ 308 which got changed to YUR 308
then sold to QLD.

Unsure, I will find out for you.. Gary Bought a red A9X 4 door in 1985 with 98000kms on the clock & sold it 2 years later. It was his first A9X he ever owned & a lady was the 1st owner of this car!!! He thinks she was a policeman so it kind of goes against a tyre shop business. Gary's had gold simmons I believe when he owned it.

Not sure if it will be the same car
I have a receipt when the car was in Sydney in Jan 1985 that shows 76000 on the clock.
Its around this time that it was sold and went to Canberra as far as I can tell.
22000km is a big difference but you never know!
Hopefully we can compare chassis or vin numbers if Gary can find any details,,

Thought I would give this a kick along.
Apparently the absinth car that also came from Dwyers Wollongong is up for sale somewhere.
I was hoping I could trace something from this car..
And more info on mine..I'll come clean!
My car was stolen and recovered by the then owner in Belconnen, ACT.
It was smashed...
The car has been re shelled
They unpicked the floor patch so that they could fit the diff into the new shell.
So some of the original shell is present .maybe the left doors as well
Cheers all ..

Hi Brian, was your car ever a Melbourne car in the mid 80's. My friend lived sunshine/footscray area and he had a white VC HDT Commodore. A few doors down from his place parked out in the street with 3 flat tyres was a red A9X chamois interior and silver writing on the rear spoiler. I tried to buy it but was told to "piss off it's not forsale". A few days later it was gone!

Howdy
It may have come to Melbourne but not that I am aware of ..
Unless it came down here from Sydney and then to Canberra ..
Mid 80;s Its around that time frame ....I think..

I found this site that has the Canberra times in digital form. Very handy..
I did a search for a red A9X and came up with an add from Turin motors performance cars
TURIN PERFORMANCE CARS CANBERRA
137-139 NEWCASTLE ST, FYSHWICK, A.C.T.
TORANA A9X, 4 dr, red,LDW-005
Just guessing but it may be a NSW rego LDW-005
Did a search on NSW rego and this rego shows up as
2003 SILVER HOL COMMODORE SEDAN
Anyway I was wondering if any ACT members may know any one from turin motors .
Not much to go on but it could be the car when it came to canberra from sydney..
here is a link to the digital newspaper ..
http://trove.nla.gov...ory=Advertising
the add is found in Turin motors add
thanks
