Welding is 33% knowledge, 45% understanding the machine you're using and 80% practice. Only then can you weld at 158%.

Otherwise, try and get onto Dirtbag, I think he's in your area. He's a guru at this stuff and he may be able to give you some pointers. Whether or not he's willing to is a different story, but it's worth a try.
Best of luck with the project, it's good to see that you're committed to it... Sentimental value goes a long way.

I have a stuffed door from the kingswood i want to use as a test piece before i go anywhere near the car itself, i'm not to keen on working at the base of the A Pillars simply because they are structural.
I've already told the girlfriend that if we ever have to evacuate from here her car will be towing the Kingswood up the road lol

Ok so no progress for a while now on the old girl, engine is still wrapped up in its blanky covered in oil waiting for everything else. The original crank is quite rusty now so it will have to go to the machine shop to see if its savable. The original pistons need to come off the rods and the new ones put on then it can pretty much go together bar the head.
Now my question is, How long can the re assembled engine sit together on the stand? Is there anything i should do to make sure the internals dont rust up etc or should i wait till the body is done and do the engine last?
The Original cam shaft went to a good home, Its in 2 pieces now as front legs for the bench top on the Home Bar, and the Piston tops will be cut off and used as coasters.

That's true up here as well. There are 2 or 3 q's I see fairly regularly but not often I see the other models.
And woodsy, I don't have a welder but if you need anything and I've got it, give us a yell mate. I'm not too far from ya.

He wants one of those ones that when you pull the trigger, it squirts a new plenum chamber onto the car.
