My mate used to own Widowmaker some 23-25 years ago, in Bendigo, Vic.
I pit crewed for him & made bits for the car.
From memory (have killed many a brain cell since) he bought it from a bloke in Melbourne who couldnt get it running.
Might have had something to do with trying to run petrol thru methanol jets hahaha. My mate spotted it straight away.
It had the 265 E38, 2" SU's, 3 speed, 9", hand operated brakes on rear only.
We made a filler neck where the themostat housing was & just fiiled the block with water.
A stainless fuel tank was made a work that was mounted in front of the motor.
He had a modified 500 holley that had petrol & methenol fuel blocks that were swapped when needed (ahhh the memorys of methanol carby fires!!)
The Holley was easiest to get going in the begining as the SU's were sucking the bowls dry.
I made a stainless fuel bowl with a Holley bowl attached to replace the small SU bowls for methanol.
That fixed the fuel issue but i dont think the single plate clutch liked it then (think it was a stocker !!)
We took it to Calder & heathcote (Nationals) abit & had a blast (me being a hairy arsed 19-20 year old that knew SFA)
Sorry i dont have any photos as i couldnt afford a camera back then.
Not sure when he sold it but i think it went thru a couple of hands without doing much.
I stumbled onto the pic above, somewhere in the middle of NSW? & then saw it on ebay awhile back.
That was the last time i spoke to the mate, to let him know the old girl is still around.
Apparently when it was raced prior in SA it held the 6 cyl record but dont know for a fact!
