Whats a car that you sold and wish you hadn't, or could have bought but pulled out of the deal and wish you hadn't?

Brock's 1978 Bathurst winner (i'm pretty sure it was this car) was for sale in Hunter region in the late 80's or early 90's.
Also a white A9X hatch for $12k in 1990-ish. It got stolen a few months latr and recovered registered as a Sunbird.

This A9X hatch l purcased around 1983 for $10,000 is one l let go. Gown Hindaugh built 308 with a Super T10 and 2.6 rear gears. The car is now in the good hands of another forum member . Of all the cars l've ever had, that's the one l regret selling the most.

I almost swapped my UC budgie for a broken '67 fastback stang.
Almost swapped the same car for a pair of E-type Jags.

I regret not buying a L34 for 6K.

Bought a HK 327 metalic blue for $3500 and sold it for $3500 a year later as i was coming north and didn't have anywhere to put it

Pranged the GTR and looked at a white HK 327 with a white interior - still had plastic on the door trims... $2200 was the asking price but because i was still paying off the GTR and was on apprentice wages it was out of my limits
I still wonder what happened to that car

Could have also had an E 49 Bathurst for $2700

Sold my LX 6cyl Hatch for $100... Made a $20 loss on it. But it did provide us with plenty of fun.

Had a Ford XD ESP, 5.8, 4 speed. Was immaculate & done 140,000 orig ks. I tipped it over & wrote it off. The old man kept telling me to resurrect it but I just wanted to see it gone. A wrecker stole it for $1,500...
Wish I had listened to him.

Came out of hospital in 1970 after spending 17 weeks in bed so I was needing a new set of wheels, mainly because my HR shaggin' wagon was severely bent.

Bloke next door offered me his car for $300, had no rego and brakes needed attention and motor needed a good tune-up but I said "no thanks" I'll buy another Holden which ended up being a very sweet FC sedan for the same $300.

His car for $300 was an MGTD :banghead:

How long ago did you sell this???
I know the photo is not that good, did it have some after market rear spoiler fitted to it?

Do any of you older guys remember the blown black HG Monaro that VHT used in all its old paint ads in magazines?

The car was featured in about 1982 in Street Machine,it was awesome.

For sale outside the Summernats in about 1985 for $10,000....which was a heap of money for a Munro back then.

I wish Id sold a kidney to grab it though.

Bloke in Highfields got it off me in 03 or 04, mate. And yeah it had an aftermarket spoiler, not the factory SS one. Plates were WPS-461.

I also told him to give me first notice if he decided to sell it (which he failed to do), as I knew him for a while and he never keeps cars long. He owned 3 or 4 Toranas inside a year.

I regret selling my 71 454 powered 4 speed manual Corvette.

But I regret not buying a GMP&A hatch - legally registered and built to A9X specs with a very very healthy motor - $15k in 1997. Bought a HSV VN wagon instead :(

I went and looked at a A9X hatch. The old guy had it since it was 6 months old, had 23000km on the clock but hadn't been registered since 87. He was very standoffish and his wife stood at the door with the phone with 000 pre set ready to dial the whole time. He wouldn't answer questions and just turned me completely off the sale. I asked if he had the original wheels he said he didn't, turned out they were on his ute out the back. He wanted top dollar and then some but now I wish I'd bought it.

I've heard the story heaps of times this engine was to full group C specs, it's just not true. It did have work done to it, and it's healthy, but certainly not a group C engine

^^ a bit off topic, but I love those wheels. What sort of wheels are they? And that's a bloody nice car too nonetheless.

It was advertised that it was Red at the time and Cess said it had $8000 spent on the Engine, it was 1983-1984 when i took it for a test run, it went hard, i guess who ever bought it from Hendricks Car yard in Tassy might have the receipts that Cess had to go with the car back in 1983-1984 etc, i believe its over the mainland these days.

The picture I posted is the car
A mate owns it here in Sydney, it's been on the dyno since he had it and the engine builder who did Fred Gieslers engines has looked at it and it's not a group C engine.
More proof you can't believe everything you read.
