Is it only if you sand it and spread fine dust in the air?
is it a issue when your filing it?
Can it be absorbed through the skin? (I noticed if you run your hand over the panel after filing your fingers turn gray)
When you are heading and spreading it with the paddle should you be wearing a mask?
How much lead does it take to make you sick... does it take years and years of lead wiping or can it happen in a few days etc.

Hey guys, have been playing with some Lead wiping/loading recently... Ive been wearing the same mask I use for spraying 2k paint but just wondering about lead poisoning... And at what times I should be worried?

Yes the lead oxide can be absorbed through the skin, also wash your hands before sucking your thumb, eating or having a ciggy. Filing lead shouldn't be a great airborne hazard as the particles are larger and fall quickly to the ground but sanding creates finer particles that can be breathed in. Wear a mask, gloves and disposable coveralls to be on the safe side.
Long term exposure will be dangerous but occasional exposure shouldn't present too many risks.
I've handled lead on many occasions in the course of my work over the last 30+ years and I've never felt any ill effects.
Even spawned a couple of ankle biters lol.

hence the reason we had shit fuel/paints for so long after it was removed from them
i'd wear as much ppe as i could handling it
i think those paper masks should be ok when your filing it but
the paint masks mayy be overkill

Those paper masks are almost useless - to me anyway, no matter how I bend that metal strip I can never get them to seal around the nose.
You'd be breathing in lead when you heat it, it's quite insidious so protect yourself as much as possible.

My mate still leads and only uses bog if asked to. He is f&@king nuts as well. He is rebuilding the firewall and tunnel in my LC at the moment then he wants to do the rebuild LX SS body. I don't know if the wife and I will handle it, rather look after 10 little kids. When he come to work for me he will stay with us and other little kids run a muck.

Yeah I know, but you're talking bout lead right?
I think from memory it blocks the synapses in your brain and basically stops proper communication between different parts of your brain.
Not good unless you like being a nutter.
