Be warned that grit from Supercheap is extremely fine, it gets through your clothes and everything. Good for a nice finish but doesn't make a lot of impact on some paintwork etc, I found a much coarser garnet was better

On my engine bay I used Sikaflex, in the booth, just before applying the colour.

I've done this a few times over the years and never had a problem.

The Sikaflex can bridge a fair gap and doesn't shrink.

Only LH had the boosterless option (4w Drums !)

Good luck with it !

I've had 3 showers and I've still got grit in my ears... I do think that norton stuff is to fine. I'll try n hunt some coarser grit I think. What a mess.

3060 grit would be ideal.

Pronounced "thirty sixty"

I pay about $530 a tonne for it, so a 25kg bag from a proper supplier should be fairly cheap.

Cheers.

Not knowing where you are in FNQ, i cant really suggest anywhere. Possibly try Blastec, clemco, or Quality equiptment maintenance, see if they have a local supplier.

Cheers.

Interesting looking at your brake booster mount on the firewall....

Mine has an extra two holes in the mid section... behind them is captive nuts???

You scarred the crap out of me Brad.
I thought; 'Here we go again - another lesson the hard/expensive way', but it turns out my booster only has the fours studs in each corner - hope I have the right booster!

I see you have the ubiquitous rust behind the bonnet hinges - how big a job is it to get that all fixed?

I enjoyed your post about attempting the blasting and I know you pain mate - did you keep it out of the chassis rails?
Tell me, all that rust and old sealant - can you get it out with a wire wheel or will only media blasting get it done?
How did it go anyways - did that fine grit that you have work at all?

Finally, in relation to finding some more coarse grit (garnet or whatever), just look up someone who does the blasting locally and go see them for a bag - likely easier than trying to find a local stockist.

All the best and cheers, TB

Hanra, you might be able to some from the mob that
blasted/bent your tailshaft if you still talk to them. :D
If you have no joy getting some the local blaster up here
would probably give you enough to do the job or give
McClarty a ring, they got 25kg bags, they might even give you
a name of where to get it in Cairns

That's a good idea, I'll drop in and see them friendly lads at that Blast Shed in town. I'm sure they will be more then eager to help me out. Great blokes they are.
