Interesting scary thread. I was heading out to get some quotes soon too Stav. The finance minister wasn't impressed when she looked over my shoulder aqnd saw the figures. :shoot: I think I might be heading out tomorrow and buying myself an air compressor and a spray gun and seeing how quickly I can learn to spray a half decent coat of primer to save a bit of money. Otherwise, I might have to stock up on some orange laminate from Woolies and have a crack at the technique above ... :wtf:

I dunno, when i worked for Telstra they fully wrapped a hiace van, rear and side window, roof, everything.

When they sent it to auction they discovered it wouldn't come off!

They ended up having to sandblast the entire thing and repaint to get that shit off. LOL suckers...

Hi, I thought id throw in my pics, trying to stay conservative, I ony had my painter do the stuff i couldnt.

He stripped the body back to bare metal, replaced the front gaurds and nose panel, fixed up some minor damage on the doors, sills, bonnet, no major rust (bonus).

Resprayed back in original colour SunBurst Metallic, 2pak.

Chris @ Wreckormend Panels at Boonah QLD did the work over a 5 month period. A recommendation I followed up on from, Ron Gordon, QLD XU1 Club President, as his car was done there also.

I was in no way building a show car and I'm happy with the result. $12000 for his work and I provided the front panels $1100.

As you can see the Rana has had some biffo at some stage, it was raced at Lakeside here in Brissy for a number of years, i tink it deserved the TLC it received.

I got lots more pics but tryin to keep the file size down to post.

Thanks for look'n

Here is the quote/estimate for my job to be done in the next few months.

Paint  $560

Booth $300

Labour  $500

consumables  $300 max

This is with me doing all the prep work and my mate painting is pretty good with the gun. So pretty happy with this. Guess it comes down to who you know and how well you have "scratched their backs" in the past as the booth owner and painter are both customers of mine.

Hi Likatiger,
i know how it is to scratch peoples back then they ur's. Bak in '96 i had my Eh prem painted in 2pak for $3500. It was always a straigt car. It then sat sum time un driven (8 years) the paint went shitty from bad prep.
A company i did work for, re painted my car for $0. They were industrial spraypainters, but sum had good car know how. I was stoked. & its won trophies. So there are good well priced jobs out there if you shop around. There is a pic of it in my garage pics on this site.

I could easily spend $1600 on quality materials fully stripping/preparing/spraying a complete car for a complete inside/out paint job, not including a booth.

Just the paint alone for one of the jobs dad did was $3000, let alone sandpaper, masking tape, primer etc

Paid $2500 for 2 pak paint job on previous Lc 2dr back in 2006.
Body was in pretty good condition.
Got the rust in sills and floor pan done for ~$1000 by someone else.
Sanded the car back by hand myself, left the engine bay though, painter just touched it up a bit.
Came up looking fantastic!

Sounds like I'm getting a good deal too. I've been quoted approx. $4000-$6000, for show quality! Lucky me it seems! Good thing I have connections lol

depends in what quality the paint is in? say, if inside the door jams was still alright and didnt need painting, you wouldnt have to paint it again, whereas if you changed colour you would, normally the whole car is resprayed though, in which case, no, it would cost the same amount i would imagine
