I would rather drive a goat tbh.

Don't really fancy the car plus why bring back torana if it is nothing like the original.

Rather that than a Cruise or Barina !!

Maybe the die-hards could order one minus the computer, power steering, electric windows, hydraulic clutch and airconditioning to relive the 1970's...

That is true. Holden can use the chassis, do a revision of the body, make it a lot more aesthetic and functional. Have it optional to have the turbo 4 cylinder, turbo (flat?) 6 or V6, LS2 V8, with their range of manuals and autos. 4 wheel disc brakes, GM 12 bolt diff.

Power steering and AC as standard or S. Power windows and electric mirrors etc as an SL, full leather interior and trimmings with perhaps a bolt on Flare kit (doesn't need to be crazy big, just enough to let the SLR's run the 19 x 9 rims and upgraded discs with 4 spot calipers etc) and bobtail...

I honestly can see the merit in this. This would almost save Holden, as long as they leave it as a middle sized car and have it moderately priced. Say 40K for the SLR version etc all the way down to 25K for the S.

If they brought out a reasonably good looking vehicle in that platform ( in a recent wheels rag they had a concept that looked like a Cruize, just RWD, and i like the shape of a cruize), i would be fully prepared to walk into the bank and politely request 40k for a "SL" in Liams run down with a LS2 and six speed manual.

Cheers.

^^^ +1. People will never forget what a great car the original Torana stood for. This could be the same, and could be another car of Aussie pride that we can export all over the world.

I agree with liam ^^, but it would be nice if it resembled the LC/LJ or LH/LX with some styling cue's just like they have done with the Camaro, Mustang and the Challenger.

Just my 2c's worth.

Paul.

Paul I completely agree. Round headlights for one. And maybe a bit more squared off at the front would see it look alot more interesting. I think a modest Cruze revamp and re style could see a recognisable Torana evolution.

Re: Exporting, more the European market haha. They'd love the Turbo 4.

Let the name die. You dont want the name 'Torana' to be thrown around and people to think of a 2012 Cruze lookalike. Keep it as a classic and move on.

LH/LX wouldnt work in modern styling. LC/LJ is a lot more curved shape, would suit better.

I know im probably biased, just IMO.

A cruize with a longer bonnet and shorter boot would fit nicely.

Cheers.

Horses for courses. As long as they don't use L34 and A9X, I'm fine with it, at the end of the day, it's a name for a car.

I have no qualms having Torana being used to describe a middle sized sedan (or hatch if 2 doors are an option) carrying the SLR badge with an LS2, 6 speed manual, full luxury items and performance to make even the top range Commodores look silly. A revival is fine if it does the breed justice, just like the Camaro and Challenger etc in USA.

I don't literally mean square like the LH-LX but more square than the Cruze which is almost semi circle at the front, round lights are a must though.

No way in hell would it be that exact car, Holden has specifically said that, it would be based off it's chassis and retain its Turbo motor.

First, thats not the only Torana, or the nicest one, Second, thats the american shape not the australian concept., Thirdly, that said, throw some round headlights in the american concept and change the grille a bit and its frOcking close......

FMS.

Haters gonna hate.

Cheers.

I think the concept with slight changes would suit / match the style of the LC/LJ.

The camaro above with slight changes would suit the LX hatch.

What's with the fat middle-age spread with all the retro cars? Have all us middle-aged hoons...oops... car enthusiasts, succumb to this condition & the car makers are targeting this market.
