Imagine if they used that formula with this new car but you could drop a LSX engine & 6spd in!!! That thing will be a weapon once someone rolls it into a tuners shop. It doesn't have to be called torana, Gemini, camira etc...

Plus the cheaper the base car equals more sales plus more cash left over for mods which would crate more cash/ jobs in the industry. Can't really see a bad thing here.

I think they should go a diff way, they've already come up with this design so they should use it the way it is, but make it into more of a "tuner friendly car" just like the new Toyota & Subaru BRZ-86 thingy. Those cars can easily be transformed into animals once the WRX STi engines are installed - they drop straight in I'm told without any stuffing around what so ever.

Dude, it's hard enough as it is to get LS motor engineered/registered in the Torana's and they came out with V8's, it would be next to impossible to do it to these.

And i highly doubt you would get away with putting a junker LS1 or similar in one, probably wouldnt make the new poofy emissions laws.
Cheers.

I remember the last time they tried reinventing the torana... this looks like its heading down
the same path.
Anyhows upto the Holden hierarchy and the market i suppose.

they had the hide to call a 2 door commodore a Monaro which in turn looks nothing like a bloody Monaro !!!
But at least it had v8 power as an option

2 door coupes for HK-HG-HT Monaro
2 door coupes for HQ-HX-HZ-WB
2 door coupes for VX-VY-VZ
So technically it was a Monaro.

2 door Kingswood was a Monaro... Or rather a 2 door version of the run of the mill fleet.... Ie Kingswood, Premier and the then Commodore.
2 door coupes for HK-HG-HT Monaro
2 door coupes for HQ-HX-HZ-WB
2 door coupes for VX-VY-VZ
So technically it was a Monaro.
no no no Liam a real Monaro was also built with style and class and not plastic

Call it a Gemini. Who gives a frOck if that name is resurrected.
I couldnt think of anything worse than conversing with some polo neck shirted, corduroy pantsed poonce telling me all about his cool Torana and trying to find some sort commonality between us. Our cars are not just a name, they represent an era, a culture and an identity.
I wont buy one, Ive already got a run of the mill modern Holden, its called a Commodore.
You make a great point there Big T,
If they are going to release this car and use the "torana identity", then the car has to earn it. I don't really think thats going to be possible, what with V8 super cars being the almost identical vehicles they are today. The torana to me represents a history in Australian Motorsport, which as much as we'd like, will never be repeated...
That's not to say I wouldn't mind seeing another concept design created, and maybe shown off at a motorshow. But that's it, and only for the sole reason it makes me even more happy and proud to own mine....
