the crease at the top of the hq rad that holds it out to far can be beaten flat with a fair bit of effort to place it close to stock position, then your shroud fits.

use the Hq lower holes and drill new top ones.

trim lower sidebands enough to clear subframe.

touch up paint and jobs done.

This is a v8 and 6 cylinder radiators both from a LH torana, the 6 cylinder one is a wide as the v8 one. Both have the side brackets that sit the radiator close to the car and have a hole centre of 267mm from the top hole to the bottom hole. Hope this helps.

Bomber, your measuring stick is incorrect, the one you measured as 444 is actualy 344( you counted from zero but in fact your measuiring from the 100 mm mark), high therfore making it a lc/lc rad. The Second on appears to be the correct 2row radiator band set albeit with 6 cyl tanks.. The core, bands between the 6/8 are the same its only the Tank and therefore fittings location that changes.

The 6 cyl one may have been a heavy duty option for a/c or something as it has a larger core than the standard 6 cyl one that we are all familiar with.

The set I have and the set bomber has appears to be the set you need.

The only measurements I can give you mate are from the mounting holes in the car.

So disregarding dimensions of tanks etc, the non poofter dimensions are:

Vertical holes centre to centre: Approx 270mm

Horizontal holes centre to centre: Approx 680mm

If Bombers is incorrect however, would you be willing to sell the bands you have?

The side bands I bought off 1uzbt1 just arrived. I gave em a blast and a coat of primer. The mounting holes are spot on, it sits nice and flush next to the body work, the top tank would sit at the correct height.

However the bottom of the mounting strap sits well past the lower nose cone mount..... It would need to be about 50mm higher up to clear safely....?

I know my lower nose cone mounts are not factory but surely this cant be right?

If your nosecone is fitted up properly and the bottom of the radiator band assy (assuming it is an LH unit) isn't pushing the bottom of the nosecone down and out of shape then it looks like the problem is all your nosecone lower mounting tabs are too short.

If I can get a hold of the overall height measurement of a correct V8 radiator then I'll know for sure what's going on here....

How did anything attach to those tabs? It must have been way out of whack... Those speed nuts should be on the holes in the bottom of the radiator support that can be seen either side of and just below the centre of the radiator.

I don't recall seeing any original radiators but it seems like its in the right spot to me, an HQ radiator sits at the same height and everything clears it fine (get rid of the tabs)

I welded those tabs there as the lower rad support has been replaced with a bar.... I guess back in the day before replacement panels were even thought of by the various suppliers these days.

I need something to mount the lower nose cone, air dam and inner splash guards to.

I thought about replacing it but decided to weld tags there instead. As I havnt had a radiator to fit I didn't know it would foul. Also the HQ type radiator would fit as it would sit out towards the engine clearing those tags.

So is the bottom tank lower then the lowest part of the bottom of the nosecone? Because that's how low this sits. But if I can get an overal height tank to tank. I'll know for sure.

Are those odd brackets in the center added on, or like an LH thing? (the one in the center for example with the speed nut on it)

I don't have a really good picture off hand, but my car doesn't have anything like that ?

I just saw your last post...missed it that you had added those tabs since I was adding my reply at the time, lol..

Those things are supposed to mount to the speed nuts in the lower holes showing in your pic...? (just below each of your tabs)
