Pat gardiners kits aren't bad but the instructions are a bit vague and you will need to work out a lot of the details yourself.. As to the ac I am looking at a vintage air setup which i've been quoted $2100 to supply and fit because I've already got a compressor.
I dont know if you have bought your V6 wiring harness but i found Pat from V6 conversions hopless to deal with. I bought a kit to suit 5L to LX and nothing fitted. Aftersales service if you could evently reach him on the phone was poor and wiring instuctions was 2 photocopyed bits of paper.I would hope that he has picked up his game as im not the only one not happy with him.
Yep well, not really much of an improvement but I now have 3 sheets of light on instructions so maybe a 33% increase? I was re-reading Pat's EH story in an old street machine mag and he really was one of the first to work out the conversion. Seeing as his speciality has always been V6 maybe the 5L crossover was outside his comfort zone??? They seem friendly enough so far, but I haven't had to ring back with installing dramas yet which can always test a workshop friendship. The kit looks pretty good though.
The hurricane A/C unit at http://www.oldairproducts.com/catalog/ is defintely more compact and the ducts open to the front which would make hooking up to the side and floor vents a bit easier but it is a bit boxy looking. Damn I can't decide now, I am still waiting to get the quote for the vintage air gear. The old Mark IV cool only under dash unit is such an easy looking install option but in my experience they are a bit weak in super hot conditions and don't blow on the driver. The whole thing is not rocket science it's just a case of getting the right fit and running the pipes to the right spots. [IMG https://cache.gmh-to...LHACairflow.jpg[/IMG]
Maybe size doesn't matter ??? .... ... Yeah right ... so anyway darwin is the same sort of weather as Saigon and Guatemala so lots of incentive to go as big as possible (the hilux conversion is maybe a bit too crowded). Check out the old service manual schematics. I wonder if anyone is still running the old factory units? The design is not too bad, bit messy in the engine bay I suppose. The old manuals have everything you ever needed to know. Anyone need something posted let me know.

So, to have a break from A/C dramas I started to look at the VT brake booster, master cylinder and discs for swap over and got completely lost in the whole 15" wheels, backspacers, caliper clearance and stub axle patterns issues and freaked out. You've gotta love restoring cars don't you? So many options and so few answers. Sheeeze, might have to crack a beer and think about it some more....
