It was the Day the 3-V8 LJ Prototypes vanished from Experimetal Engineering as Leo Pruneau tells it in Street Machine Magazine in the June 1990 issue

Is this what your chasing or is it the actual front page replica your after?
Got this & another (79 Bathurst win) from Pitstop a while ago.
was doing the gutters for a mates old man & found these bulletin boards
behind some crap that had to be shifted (he used to be a newsagent) so thought
they'd suit the posters perfectly.

I'd like the paper front page shot.
Had a look at Paperworlds site, they reprint old newspapers in full, but there wasnt
a listing for the Sun-Herald for the 25th & the front page cover pics on the site are
for display purposes. Maybe contact them to check if its available but there priced
around $100 to $150 for the complete paper.
Good to see Bowdens stock the board poster as its been a while since I got it at Pitstop
& they dont seem to list it on their site. I spent some years as a screenprinter & it
would be very simple poster to knock out.

The L34 was developed in late 1973 you would think, to get it ready for 1974, Repco did the L34 Engine for the L34 LH Torana
Model, and Repco did the V8 F5000 5.0 Litre Engine's in 1970.
Now the 'H' at HDT would of souped up the 308 V8 Engine that went into the Yellow LC HDT XU-1, (Well Ian Tate would of hotted the 308 V8 up) and i think and reckon the Hot 308 V8 that was in the Yellow LC XU-1 went into the Barneys Shirt (Pink/Lillac) Coloured
LJ XU-1, and thats the Pink Coloured LJ V8 XU-1 that Harry used to drive around in 1972, so storys and rumors say.

the only thing we dont know for sure, who was going to Hot up the 308 V8 for the V8 LJ Program (XW-7)
there are engine part list for the 308 V8 Engine on the XW-7 Parts List, so Holden had the parts for the
308 V8 Engine, we know that much, and my Guess that Holden would of Souped up the 200-308 V8 Donks
for the 200-LJ V8's they had to make under C.A.M.S Rules of 1972, or Ian Tate and his side kick mechanics
at HDT would of been very busy if they got the nod to do it by Holden.

Might be worth your while to get a copy of Torana Tough by Norm Darwin if you don't have one as yet.

Ha Ha sorry guys the thred is florwed it didnt hapen it was 73 the LJ L34 was canned Ford feared the all mighty XU1 after 72 and whould of raced a Faze 4 XA four dore in 73 if ADR didnt change and the papers in 73 whernt chucking such a stink about supercars being sold to the public read articals on and about Hary Firths Biusness he ran back then it was called Perfect Tune it lists dates when the XU1 heads whear casted how many allso when the first L34 heads were machiened he owned his own engine reconditioning Biusness thats why the rods and the heads of a L34 bear the mark X.they were primaraly daveloped as and for the XU1 as there are 2 or 4 of them bearing 1974 vins, late 73 whould have been the L34 XU1 and continuing the modle throw 74.
Phase 4 race car was due to debut in August 1972 (still Series Production rules). I guess the LJ V8 would have been the same. I imagine round 1 of the 1972 Manufacturer's Championship would have seen them face off. [And despite the speculation over the years, Chrysler never intended to race the E55 (340) Charger. That idea was canned in 1970 when the two mule utes were being tested].
