Just remember that similar has happened before, and the "known history" has been revised as it was incorrect.
Just ask Sagman, he's been involved with three toranas so far that don't exist............
Currently, we know the people who were performing the crash tests don't remember ever seeing more than one busted arse shell in the vicinity......

Let's see what happens in the coming six months.........

Grant..

Cool

Just on a more sane and related note,

If anyone is interested in having reproduction posters made (and printed on something representing "era" material), it wouldn't be too hard to organise.

would need to get say 100 of them printed to make it worthwhile, but would be cheap as chips (just going off the look of the above)

I'd need a good clear picture of the poster (to font match) and the logo at the top, but would be a piece of piss.

I've PM's sable met (Jono?) to ask for some better photos of the poster and I'll get started on a repro version :)

Thought I should point out, if GMH had produced the V8 XU1 in 1973, under the Group C rules, they would have had to build 500 basically identical cars to homologate the LJ V8 XU1. Do you understand that Willow? Not 150 cars or 200 cars or 250 cars but 500 cars.

BTW, I hope this isn't too confusing for you but by 1973 the production option code XU2 had been assigned to the SL/R 5000. So when you read a magazine article quoting 308 V8, 1973 and XU2 in the same sentence then bear in mind that this is probably a reference to the upcoming LH SL/R 5000 with engine production option L34.

500 cars would not have been needed for verification prior to commencement of racing.......a commitment that 500 production XU-1 V8s (not full-blown race specials - they only needed the extra bits homologated) were to be built, with all the associated parts homologated separately would have been enough......many Marques raced doing similar......the Phase IV would have been racing well before most cars were built.......and it would probably ave been a further homologation to the std XU-1........
Never saying your ready of the rules is wrong, it is quite correct.........it needs to be in the context of the XU-1 racing program though.....All previous homologation paperwork is per FIA, so would be eligible for GrpC, just tweaked to suit.......

GrpA later, you basically had to present your 500 cars, and have them counted............

Grant..

S pack
Thats where Richo is missing it, he has confused the LH XU2 Torana with the LJ XU2 Torana, as Harry Firth second batch of V8 LJ's would of been developed in 1972, as Lazzers Barneys Shirt Coloured LJ XU-1 Torana is a 1972 model and thats the Car that Harry has in his Torana mag-book thingy, talking about the second batch, and he was allways well ahead of things the 'H' .
So Richo, you are talking LH XU2/SLR5000 L34 for 1973, not 1972 LJ V8 XU2 Torana.

Minimum of 500 basically identical units (LJ V8 XU1's) made and/or sold in Australia (if 1973 was to be the year however all of us bar 1 know it was 1972), regardless of how many 6cyl XU1's had already been made.
Putting a V8 in the LJ XU1 wasn't just normal evolution of type it was a major change.
Sold doesn't necessarily mean made first.
