Funny how Mike73 disappeared around the same time Richo rocked up and they both sprout the same sh1t.

At least Mike73 could spell properly & construct a readable sentence.

Richo showed elements of it at times as well when his cover was slipping......

Yesterday i Rang modern day Holden, to find out if they had on there records or any info on the V8 LJ Torana Prototypes, the Girl put me through to a long serving Holden Employee, who she said would be able to help with information, he said that the 3-V8 LJ Prototypes were returned to 202 6Cyl and used as Engineering Hacks, i told him about the Orange V8 LJ Prototype been returned to a 6 Cyl and Tendered out by GMH Port Melbourne in Feb 1975, he said all that he was told and knew they were used as Engineering Hacks.
I asked him is there any service records from the service garage back in 1972, he said that any of that info was long gone, and lots of info that was in Archives, way back then, was most likely been taken by people over the years and now none there.
He told me to contact the EX- GMH Players of the day, as they should have more information on the Subject, i asked him about the cars been sent to the Crash Barrier, he said all he was told they were returned to 6 Cyl and used as Engineering Hacks and no metion of been destroyed.
He did agree with me, that if the Orange Car was Tendered off, then the White and Pink Cars could of as well, there Warranty records would only say what the Cars were when thay were Built and left the Adelaide Plant in there standard format, before Experimental Engineering did there work on the cars in the build up area, he Wished me luck in my on going search for info.

I wonder how many they would have produced, and the old gtho's would have got a big shock at bathurst, if they had been mass produced.

As the LJ V8 was so close to production when it got canned, were there 200 "hot" 308 motors ready to go, or close to ready, just like the wheels. Other unique parts must also have been nearly ready. We all know what happened to the wheels, but what happened to the other parts, especially the engines, or the parts that were going to make these 308s "hot".

Harry Firth and HDT would of done the first Hot 308 V8 that was in the Yellow LC HDT XU-1 V8, so harry would of told GMH what they needed to get for the 200- 308 V8 Engines and you would assume that GMH would of done the Hot 308's, we now know for fact due to the XW-7 parts list, that the V8 LJ Engine engine was not standard, so i think GMH would of put aside the Engine stuff and used for the L34 Engine, the Cams and stuff for the heads on the L34.

Was very close to production, due to there was a parts list, the XW-7 parts lists, Lucky for GMH they put the V8 XU-1 Sprintmasters onto the Aug-Sept 1972 LJ XU-1's, Harrys says the Brakes as well, but i dont think there is any thing different from the Jan 1972 LJ XU-1 Brakes to the Aug-Sept 1972 LJ XU-1 Brakes ????? so makes me wonder what went on about the brakes ???????.
The Strike me Pink LJ V8 Prototype was a in-line car, meaning its the car that GMH Engineering used to setup for there factory production LJ V8's been built, so as in design and engineering drawings and parts been made for etc etc etc, so a very special car in that regard.

The Magazine Brock and I  by Harry Firth

In the magazine, Harry tells us Perfectune were going to do the Heads for the V8 LJ and Perry Exhaust doing the exhaust for the V8 LJ, and the Mods to the Pink Prototype was done by myself (Harry) and workers in my shop, I guess mods Harry means the suspension changes for the calder test etc.

Wheels Magazine Aug1972

Wheels Within

Interesting story about the V8 LJ's been tested at Lang Lang, the story would of been done in early 1972 as the Phase 4 Falcon in the same magazine as well

It'll probably be all the stuff Harry developed or helped develop for the Bathurst spec HG GTS engine (It ran a wide ratio Saginaw and a moonshot diff to keep the engine under I think 6000rpm). That was 1971, so all the mods would be fresh and ready to go in the 1972 LJ's.

Heard about the Special Hotted up 308 V8 Monaro they built up in 1971, u would think that's where the XW7 Engine roots came from, Harry Firth and Ian Tate putting there skills together.
