Hi GMH Torana Forum Users,

I have been a long time watcher of this forum however this is my first post. I hope that someone will be able to answer my pressing question! I am currently restoring a 1972 LJ GTR (Salamanca Red). When I purchased the car it came minus the two GTR door trim badges. I have recently purchased two new badges courtesy of Rare Spares however, when fitted to the door I have discovered that the pins are too long as the door card now protrudes where the pins butt up against the inside door shell. I have purchased what are supposed to be the correct badges as they are the ones with the two shorter pins. Using images online, I have positioned the badges similar to where other owners have placed theirs. Is it a matter of cutting the excess length off the pins to enable them to fit or am I doing something wrong?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Original badges have a small washer then the ends of the pins are punched or flattened over so that not much protrudes. I countersunk the back of the door trim and araldited the pins...it worked!

Hi

There are 3 GTR badge part numbers in the LJ Torana NASCO parts catalogue. If Rares only produces one type - then I guess there has to be a compromise.

Thank you Nitter and Bazza for your responses. I sussed it out. I ended up fixing the back with the smaller flat retaining nut then cut the excess with a hack saw. I'm very happy with resultant finish! I will upload photos tonight.
