1/ (3yrs) LH 202/4sp Silver SL went well with 350 holley/extractors and I modified the suspension and it handled great.
2/ (2yrs) LX 4-door 202/traumatic (Bronze) so the missus could drive it.
Every thing that could go wrong with it did so it was a Friday/Monday made car.
3/ (18 months) LJ 4-door 173/Traumatic crappy Russet colour was OK for a hack and every day driver.
4/ (4 yrs) LC GTR Monza Blue, great handling car but hard ride like a Ferguson tractor and was giving my back an even harder time.
5/ (5 yrs) and current, Mandarin Red SS Hatchback 4.2/4sp enough power for this old fella and handles nicely, right proportion of stiff suspension for a firm ride and seats are great for my back.
Probably be my last as I don't have the $$$$$$$$$'s for an L34 or A9X which would be my next one if at all possible.
BUT situations change as you get older. BUGGA
Add my missus's LX Ultra Blue 202/traumatic and that makes total of 6 in this family over the years.
Had other Holdens in between that lot including HZ Kingswood and some dunny doors with the current one being a 2007 VE.
Heaps of cars and motor bikes before I got married for the 2nd time (and definitely LAST)
BTW Tim, there was a Hatch which looked very much like yours on evilbay recently and didn't reach reserve at 25G's

Hey guy's this is a great read..an Big Jack(John) i loved your story..and the "before an after" photos are great.
gtr xu1..is that green fairly rare..must say i havent seen that colour in a gtr before ..noice!
When i was looking for a hatch there WAS one in Adelaide..a 77 LX SS Hatch 4.2 lt auto(wanted manual) Metalic Light Green,it even had the "hatch hutch"!!!
but they wanted too much money ..even back then.
Over the years(journey)i've thought twice of selling mine..once when i was unemployed for a while and another due to illness(cancer) but we've got through that so i'll never sell it unless something else befells me!
cheers Tim
theres a few around in march 17th green (st paddys day)
